There are hundreds of nations that are, either explicitly or implicitly, tied to other faiths (I used Muslim and Christian because they are most common, but there are also Buddhist and other nations). There are also many examples of nations formed on historical and religious grounds (I.E. the Vatican City, Germany following the desolation of the USSR, etc), but there is one small nation that is primarily Jewish, that was founded based on religious and historical relevance to its people. Jewish people, by and large, do not believe that a sole Jewish nation cannot and should not be maintained when few question the prevalence of nations identifying themselves through religion.

That is what Zionism it, at its core, the belief that asking for one small nation, ruled in a democratic and peaceful nature, providing support to all that May live there (regardless of their religion) is not too much to ask for a people that have been repeatedly banished, violently disregarded, and attacked based on their religion.

Zionism is not the hate it has been made out to be by extremists. It’s not a belief in the Devine nature of Israel, nor is it the belief that Israel is solely for Jews (and in fact, there are many Muslims who serve in the Israeli government, in the IDF, and in prominent positions in Israeli social scenes). I am not pro Hamas, but I am pro being objective and defended Israel and Zionism many times throughout this saga as well.

I was the PP who pointed out that there are Muslim Zionists who want Israel to exist namely the 20% of Israel that is Arab.

I am not trying to whitewash anything that Hamas did but I just can’t be taken for a ride a second time by Israel with unnamed allegations. The first time I believed it with 40 babies with no names . I’m not the PP or pro Hamas. I think it is very likely there were rapes and other atrocities on 10/7.

And I think Israel’s response has been over the top.

At least 30,717 people have been killed and 72,156 injured in Gaza since the war began. People are going hungry and aid convoys are being turned away. Pregnant women are at high risk. Most homes - and entire neighborhoods - have been destroyed.

I think rape is horrific AND I think what the Palestinian people in Gaza are experiencing is horrific.

I don’t see any good guys in the situation.

You do realize that a swath of countries in North Africa and the Middle East began expelling Jews in the 1940s, over a million, coming on the heels of the Holocaust. So yes, they went to Israel (as well as the Canada, France, and the US). You call that expansionist, others may say they were seeking refuge.

Many left voluntarily for better economic prospects in Israel, and Israel sweetened the pot to increase its percentage of Jews.
