| Even before news of the snow I was seeing more shelves that were practically bare, but today....OMG. The produce aisle had no bananas, berries, avocados.. Is this everywhere? The woman next to me staring at a bare shelf said she feels like she was transported to Venezuela. |

It's the Saturday before a mess of a storm. What did you expect???? My husband stupidly found a need to go this morning, and complained of the crowds. After I'd told him not to go and why... |
| I have lived here for a decade and a half and never seen it this bad, even for a blizzard. |
| I went shopping yesterday and it was fine. |
|
Literally the only thing I haven’t been able to find is bagged onions.
If in year 3 of a pandemic, you haven’t figured out how to shop in advance and keep staples on hand, well, you are beyond help. |
| I agree, it’s weird. It helps to go to different stores. I’ve found different ones are out of different things. |
| I just try not to shop on the weekends anymore. If you can go in the morning after they’ve restocked, that’s the best. |
Don’t be an @ss. There are empty shelves at stores in ways that haven’t been seen before. It’s not about shopping in advance, it’s about people trying to understand what’s happening. I’m sure it’s a combination of supply chain issues and staff out sick with Covid and not there to stock what they do have. |
It's more about people insisting on shopping at Giant and Safeway, which are horrible stores with fewer employees than Whole Foods, Wegman's, etc... |
|
I went three days ago and there was barely anything available on my list. No milk, eggs, OJ, cheese, grapes, bananas, carrots, peppers, broccoli, green beans, coffee creamer….that last one being most important.
It’s not like we will starve but definitely had to be more flexible on what I bought. |

Some of you should just get part time jobs at grocery stores to get your dibs on your essentials.
And maybe learn some things. |
You obviously haven’t been keeping up with the news. I’ve been to multiple grocery stores on several different days over the last couple of weeks, and they were all out of milk and large sections of produce were empty. It’s temporary, but it’s happening. |
Same. The Giant on Rockville Pike was better stocked than usual as of late. I even found cough drops, which have been in low supply everywhere. |
|
Went today and everything was stocked at Harris Teeter. They did reduce hours so they could more easily restock at night. There were a lot more people than usual, and it will probably be bare tonight, but it is before a storm and just after another storm.
It's like normal DC crap, but with a pandemic on top. What do you expect? |
| I haven't had many issues, even at the dinky Four Corners Safeway. |
