Dating a woman that watches cartoons weird or no?

Anonymous
I’m not just referring to adult cartoons like South Park or the Simpsons. I’m talking about kiddie cartoons on the Cartoon Network that your kids would watch. Do you think it’s weird? This is a woman that’s 40 with a tween child.

Maybe she finds it anxiety-reducing and/or she's used to watching them with her tween.

Does she refuse to watch non-animated shows with you? Does she talk about the cartoons all the time?

Very weird

I have a toddler and DH and I have gotten way more into Peppa Pig and, like, Molang than I would have ever expected, LOL. It's nice sometimes to kick back and just watch something that's easy and funny.

NP. The bold is good to ask yourself, OP. Important questions.

Cartoons per se, even what you deem "kiddie" cartoons, are not necessarily childish. "South Park" and "The Simpsons" etc. are not the only cartoons aimed at teens and adults. Are you sure she's really watching babyish ones, or is she just not watching the ones you think of as "for adults"? There's a huge range aimed at tweens, teens and adults. If she's watching WITH her tween, they're more likely watching stuff like "Avatar: The Last Airbender," not "Doc McStuffins."

If she's genuinely watching cartoons aimed at preschoolers, she might be using it, as a PP said, to reduce anxiety.

Why not simply show an interest in this hobby of hers and ask, "What is it that attracts you to this show? Tell me about it." She might have reasons you'd never imagine and they might be good ones. You should be open to finding out why she enjoys these shows. The fact you're using the term "weird" is kind of a red flag re: your own choice to judge her without actually simply asking her and having a discussion like a mature, dating couple would have.

It amazes me that grown adults with kids this age have this kind of free time.

+1 I would love to take a day off work, smoke some weed and just watch Bluey. OP dump this woman because she doesn't need your judgment in her life.

Dump her.

You sound weird and she deserves someone better.

I was really into Encanto when my kids watched it over break.

A new cartoon: "Judgy McJudgerson," in which Judgy goes around harshing other people's mellow.

I'd say it's fine, but she's not for you since you think it's strange.

I mean, there are grown men with every flipping Star Wars action figure. What's the difference? It's all juvenile and it's all harmless.

Weird. An attractive man I know at work asked me out to lunch sometime. His previous monologue about how he often spends his days off watching anime movies.

I don't doubt that some cartoon/animation can often have artistic quality, but it being a primary or major interest is seriously weird and hard to overlook.

Just watched it last night with my college DC. Delightful movie for us both. Re-watched some of the songs today on YouTube with DC. Many of the animated films these days are fantastic, with vast amounts going on in the background and in the songs.

OP, what exactly does she watch? Is she watching WITH her kid (not that she has to!)? Why not talk to her and ask? Or are you just not open to finding out more about, you know, the person you're dating...?

I watched Blues Clues in my 20s. It was sweet and a way to relax.
