Some do and some don't. It's like any industry where you work with folks - you get to know some better than others and you stay in touch (or not) when you move onto the next job.

I am listening to a niche podcast, the Delta flyers, which is 2 actors from star trek voyager reviewing the show.One of the actors went on to a very successful TV directing career. Love it for a bunch of reasons, including learning more about how TV etc. is made. It is super interesting to see and hear how the actors talk about who they know/don't know. A lot of the NY Theater actors who move to LA know each other seem to have an affinity for each other and seem more likely to know each other. The world of grade A celebs might be different, but at least among the less well known (but successful) actors, for sure many don't know each other very well.

I used to listen to Smartless, the podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. With the way they name drop (‘Downey, Theroux, Kimmel) it sure seems like all celebs know each other!

Yes and No. Think about how many times you hear one celebrity say how thrilled they were to meet so-and-so, or that they were big fans.
LA is a BIG place, with many nice neighborhoods that are nowhere close to each other. It's not like they see each other out walking the dog.
I think celebrities are much more likely to know each other if they are very close in age, since they have probably met at parties, auditions etc. But I wouldn't expect, for example, Tom Hanks to know Timothee Chalamet.
