Either accept some risk or homeschool. Otherwise we will never keep school open.

Not with freezing cold weather.

No. Either accept reasonable Covid precautions or move your kid to another district or to a private school.

Our school (which has been great at taking every possible precaution and I therefore don’t want to name because I don’t want to place them in the line of fire) does outdoor lunch when possible but it is absolutely not possible in these temps. I am glad they still insist on recess outside except when it’s actively raining. But yeah— if they tried to do lunch outside in this weather, the kids wouldn’t eat and they’d be wet snd cold the rest of the day. You have to have reasonable expectations.

Sending my PK3 kid to eat outside in 30 degree temps is not reasonable. It is cruel and I am so glad that her school is not caving in to these outrageous demands. This pandemic has been going on for half her life and such an extreme measure has not been needed.

I thought most are. There was only one rainy day that I can remember we spent eating indoors. Cold is ok. It's rain and wind that make it harder to do outdoor lunch.
I'm on lunch duty 4 times a week with K kids. Have not had any big problems.

Most are not. Are you at Janney or somewhere else?

My kid has not eaten outside once. Which is honestly fine with me.

Stoddert did outdoor lunch on Thursday (it was right around freezing). Cold with sun and no wind is fine for eating outside. At Hardy kids have the choice butost choose inside if it is cold.

Ours does, but it’s only one day per week. All other days in the cafeteria. But snacks and breakfast in the classroom. So I’m not that comforted by the existence of outdoor lunch.

Your kid can skip lunch or pick them up and take them home if you are so nuts. The rest of us will mitigate risk as much as possible knowing risk exists.

I don’t eat outdoor in a 30 degrees temp, why would I want my vaccinated kid to eat outdoor in the cold?
