I gained 35 lbs with my pregnancy and lost most of it within a month, however, I have gotten stuck at 140 (pre preg weight was 130) and can't seem to lose another ounce no matter what I do. I exercise every day, consumer around 1500 cal per day, no sugar, very few carbs, mostly vegetarian/vegan meals, limited diary. I am still pumping (baby is exclusively breastfed), I pump around 32 oz per 24 hours. I am starting to think my body is holding on to the last 7/10 lbs because of the breastfeeding. In my previous pregnancy I happened to lose the last 5 lbs when i stopped pumping, I presumed it was a coincidence but now i am starting to wonder if it was because of stopping the pumping. Does anyone else have similar observations? Thanks
your body is in starvation mode.
Op. Starvation mode? But how else would I lose the excess weight?
Yes, breastfeeding messes with your metabolism a lot. If I were you I’d just try maintaining until I weaned completely and then try to lose again.
This is nonsense that’s been thoroughly debunked. |
I permanently gained 10 which is not what you want to hear. Is it your first or second? First it just poof disappeared. Second, nope.
You’re still nursing. Chill until you’re done.
IME you won't ever lose it. Welocnr to your new weight. With each additional child your plateau goes up another 10 lbs. It's fun. 3rd pregnancy I never lost the weight.
You’re nursing. Your body is holding onto stores to feed your baby.
OP. this is my third pregnancy.
Two pregnancies. Both times I couldn’t lose the last ten pounds til breastfeeding and pumping was done.
Really simple, you’re eating more calories than you’re using. Stop just counting calories because highly doubtful you’re doing it right (unless you sit on the couch all day, you’re consuming more than 1500 cals) and eat better (high protein), not less.
You won’t lose until after you stop breastfeeding.
Of course its the breastfeeding. Your body is holding on to fat and other reserves to make milk and the hormones arent helping. The last 10 lbs will come off fast once you wean. I gained 55 lbs with my first and as soon as i weaned it all fell off.
Hmmm I never lost weight after BFing for a year plus. I kept 10 lbs from both pregnancies. Started at 120, low weight for my height, then was 130 after the first and 140 after the second. If I crash diet or get the flu or what have you I’m back to 130 but my resting weight is now 140. It’s just a thing that happened to me. I eat well and exercise. Nothing different than what I did pre kids.
