1200 calories is insane

Anonymous
I've been watching what I eat and exercising but not losing weight. I started to more precisely measure today and put in a calculator which suggested I limit my food to 1200 calories. That is so little food! I've had breakfast and lunch so far and I only have 350 calories left in the day. This isn't going to work!

FTR here is what I ate:

Breakfast -- 2 cups of coffee with a little half & half, a whole wheat English Muffin with a fried egg and a thin slice of cheddar
Lunch -- 2 slices of provolone, about 2.5 ounces of turkey (rollup style with everything but the bagel seasoning -- no bread), 2 clementines, water

How is that 850 calories already (according to my fitness pal).

There's no way I'll be able to maintain 1200 calories....

If u cut the cheese you would be fine but I agree that’s why I do Ww

Agree. You could also cut most of your breakfast and add that to your dinner calories.

Agreed..take the cheese out add veggies. Your lunch could have been much more filling if the turkey was atop a large green salad with a controlled amount of dressing.

Yea, no. I don't function without breakfast.

And that’s why I’m overweight.

Also, switch a hard-boiled egg out for a fried one and get rid of breads, rolls, and wraps.

Agreed. But you know it’s your obligation as a woman to be skinny, so you must suffer. (Sarcasm)

The food you are eating is junk. You need to eat more fiber like vegetables fruits and sweet potatoes which will fill up your stomach.

When I eat 1200 cal, I gain weight. I eat very little starchy carbs. We're all different with different calorie needs, OP. You have to listen to YOUR body, and what it needs.

Drop the bread, and eat more veggies. They are really low calorie.

you can eat fairly normally if you avoid most carbs, alcohol, sweets and cheese. But I agree its tough.

Then skip dinner. To manage calories you need to intermittent fast, so you need to skip something. Also 1200 calories is too low try 1500 you’ll feel more satisfied and less deprived and thus will be able to stick to it.

Why do you need to eat so little? Is it doctor ordered?

1500-1600, if you're active and exercise, is much more doable.

I hate diet culture. Most likely OP you’re just fine the way you are and don’t “need” to lose weight

You probably need to ramp up calories to maintain”1500-1900” depending on each person to increase your metabolism. Once you’re eating at maintenance, then cut back to a deficit.
