Princeton or MIT

My DS with high stats applied to Harvard and was deferred. He would like to pursue a math major, has math related awards and research. He is applying to the top places. If he gets into both, which one is better in math, Princeton or MIT?

I graduated in the 80's and got into both Princeton and MIT. Chose MIT and do not regret!

A deferral at Harvard is a soft rejection. It is even more challenging to get into Princeton. Good luck but I think you’ve already been told this happening for your child unless uou have major hooks.

For pure math, it's a toss-up. Of course, if he actually "has math related awards and research," he should know that. He also should have the sense to apply to some of the public powerhouses where admission is more of a sure thing--Illinois, Washington, etc.

NP. Well, I am here too because I am not Christian. This is a regular Friday for me.

I know a kid who had this exact choice last year and she chose to study math at MIT.
