If polling is remotely accurate, around 5% or less. |
It's not up to the NYT to allege illegality. That is the NYAG's job. The NYAG has alleged illegality and has been suing Trump and his family and the Trump Org for years, but the case is predicated on comparing the filed tax returns to the documents the Trump Org supplies to its bankers. That is why Trump has appealed to the Supreme Court once and lost and is about to go there again for a second time. An innocent person doesn't go to these extremes. |
Trump's position that they are fake yet illegally obtained is tough to parse. |
Folks around here will probably know more about the security clearance process than I do, but I remember hearing tales of people being denied clearances because they were gay -- on account of blackmail potential. Owing $400 million is a lot more potential leverage than being gay! |
You are exactly correct. Someone with nothing to hide would have released the relevant documents ages ago. |

Just going to leave this here:

That level of debt would make it very difficult to obtain a security clearance. It absolutely is a national security problem. |
That level? You make it sound like he was overleveraged by $100K ala Stacey Abrams or Kavanaugh. It’s freaking $400M. Forget a security clearance I’d be looking into whether he sold state secrets from his intelligence briefings BEFORE he took office. |
People are angry. I guarantee you a fair portion of Democrats have some things in mind they'd like to happen to Mitch McConnell, but are not saying them. |
Maybe he means they are “fake” because he gave the IRS fake #s. |
