Here’s the full hierarchy updated for Season 2:

Attending Physician
Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) — on his way out for a sabbatical
Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) — incoming attending, Robby’s replacement

Senior Residents
Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) — returning from rehab, first day back
Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) — promoted to 4th-year resident

Third-Year Residents
Dr. Cassie McKay (Fiona Dourif) — promoted from 2nd year
Dr. Melissa “Mel” King (Taylor Dearden) — promoted from 2nd year

Intern (First-Year Resident)
Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones) — now a full intern

Dr. Dennis Whitaker (Gerran Howell) — finally getting paid

Sub-Intern
Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez) — doing a sub-internship, stalling on committing to a specialty

Medical Students
Joy Kwon (Irene Choi) — 3rd-year med student, detached but quietly brilliant, wants pathology
James Ogilvie (Lucas Iverson) — 4th-year med student, arrogant “gunner” who gets humbled hard over the course of the season

Charge Nurse
Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) — runs day-to-day ER operations, parallel power structure to the doctors

Santos is an R2, not her first year.

Adding:
Abbott and Shen are ER attendings
Garcia is a surgical fellow (she’s completed her surgical residency and is pursuing a sub specialty)

I thought Jivadi was a 3rd year med student in Season 1.

So I checked The Pitt Fandom/wiki page, which says in S1 she was a 3rd year med student.

Did I miss something?

No,you didn’t miss anything, this is the beginning of her M4 year. She’ll be doing sub-internships for a few months, including possibly at a different hospital (like Ogilvie). In fall/winter she’ll be interviewing for Residencies and her rank list will be due in February. Match Day comes in March, when she funds out where she’ll be going for Residency (which most of us probably hope will be the Pitt!) She’s either already taken her grueling Step 2 exam or will very soon. It’s normal for her to complete sub Is in areas that she’s interested in, which is why her mom is so pissed.

Interesting interview with Sepideh Moafi.

She talks in depth about her character and the season’s theme of empathy, and gives some hints about what’s coming.

It’s well worth a read, but if you just want the hints:

“ We’ll learn about what’s going on with the baby. We’ll learn about what happened in the bathroom. We’ll learn more about why she’s so set on the advancement of medicine through technology”

I don't like that Robbie has ripened into a nasty old coot. I loved him first season. Now he just seems pointlessly dismissive and agitated.

She looked so different with her straight hair! I enjoyed the article.

Langdon has been sober for ten months and the presentation of his degree of self-awareness/capacity to grapple with the damage he did is about on the money for that length of sobriety.

It would make sense for him to be out of the ER for longer, but the resources invested in physician training don’t allow it.

This situation is another collision of human needs and capacities and the brokenness of the health care system.

Agreed. As much as some of his behavior is making me cringe or feel frustrated with him (his conversation with Santos reminded me so much of things my brother who is in recovery has told me, including right before relapsing), it is very accurate for someone at this stage.

he has taken on the role of the admin woman from upstairs. she'd come down to try and keep them in line about turnover and feedback. He would push back that it should be about patient s & staff. I guess they wanted to cut back on an admin character.

I miss Kiara, the social worker from last year. I’m not as invested in some of the patients as I was last year.

Dr. Mohan is leaving the show after this season

They have said S3 will have a much shorter time jump (guessing it will be Robby returning from his sabbatical) so I wonder how they will write that in since she'll be departing mid academic year.
