Look at her age and the age of her dad. It's unlikely she knows him at all, let alone learned at his knee.

That's what I thought. 58 year difference or something like that.

Can you try to stop using misogynist language? It is just not necessary. Unqualified professionals come in all genders.

What would be an equivalent non-sexist word? (She's not a professional at all.)

If what you're trying to discuss her professional qualifications or lack there of then irresponsible, inexperienced, unqualified, unprofessional . . . all those words would work.

If you're looking for a non-sexist word to convey the idea that her sexual behavior and her sex are relevant, well there isn't one. Which point were you trying to make?

Maybe immature.

No, they didn't leave because of reckless gun use.

Just go back and find the link where they listed the reasons why they left. Lack of gun safety was actually one of their many reasons for quitting. Another reason was sleep deprivation. Alec Baldwin failed to address any one of the problems.

That wasn’t AB’s job.

No, but his job WAS to ensure that the equipment he used was being managed appropriately. Taking a gun from someone who should not have been handling it WAS Alec Baldwin's job. Not verifying with the armorer that the gun was unloaded and empty WAS Alec Baldwin's job as soon as he decided to take possession of it. He caused that woman's death because of his failure to follow the protocols.

Except that the AD's job is to oversee all safety on the set, and to supervise the armorer. An explicit part of that is to be the person to double check each weapon after the armorer does. So, asking the AD makes as much or more sense than asking the armorer.

No, actually you're wrong. The armorer may report to the AD but the armorer has complete authority over the weaponry. AB was completely negligent when he didn't ask for the armorer before accepting the weapon.

Hm, no. He was always against guns. He should stick to his own believe and never touch the gun if he believed that gun kills.

Did he find his size of the t-shirt that says "Guns don't kill. Alec Baldwin does"?

I think this nails the intense irony of the situation-- someone who (rightly, IMO) speaks out against the harms of guns and yet fails to heed his own advice. It's kind of Shakespearean.

AB looks like hell. I don't know what has been going on with him this year as he's begun to look like hell, and although I find him obnoxious, he's also one of the best actors of our time. So I'd like him to pull it together.

I don’t think this is true. Don’t actors report to their AD? He was following the organizational chart.

I was the first person to say that on this thread and was poo pooed.

DP. Look, he was dumb enough to take a gun, not check (verbally with the armorer or visually by checking his own darn self) if the gun was loaded, point it in the direction of a group of people and fire it. He is still ultimately responsible. And I admit that I think he is a complete jerk (yes, I know him). But he is even more dumb than I would have thought possible with this latest act. It is really sad that his hubris and his inability to follow even basic rules (do not point a gun at anyone and don't fire it if you aren't 100% sure it is empty) caused this young woman to die. He deserves to be brought up on criminal charges and he should pay for his actions. Other people as well, but he should be at the head of the 'you're going to jail' pack.

DP. He did check verbally with the AD who handed him the gun. And since there were never supposed to be live rounds on the set at any time, ever, he didn't think to ask the AD to double check by pulling the trigger himself.

These gun nuts who say that Baldwin is responsible seem so fearful of admitting that guns are dangerous. They're dangerous for the obvious reason, that people play around with them instead of being careful. Baldwin was careful and someone died because other people were playing around with the gun. Tbh, you sound like Hannah Gutierrez, who was saying that guns are safe and people shouldn't be afraid of them.

Wow. I hope she was misquoted. That’s not the thing to say.

Yep – I come from six generations of veterinarians, surgeons, and bench scientists. So I’m qualified for all of that!🙄

She has a bachelors degree in film/cinema and has been working in that occupation ever since. And being a armorer where she also trained actors on how to use their guns.

A dumb statement you make without knowing the facts. She very well could have cleared the gun, but someone else put a live round in there. That's why they call it an "investigation", to get the facts.

This was her second job as armorer and the first one didn't go well.

Now she needs a new career. And since her landlord is kicking her out, she also needs a new place to stay.

Under qualified and under performed. To say the least.

Yup. Kids of surgeons should just be handed scalpels whenever their fine motor skills kick in.

The comparison- very stupid, naturally, for this thread- of what-if-ing a scenario where AB pointed it at himself and inadvertently committed suicide kinda ignores that unlike those who were allegedly using the guns for play, AB was working. He was rehearsing. He wasn’t farting around because he’s at a level of idiocy where shooting shit up is the only way to have fun as opposed to literally anything else.

It’s not a stupid comparison. No one is saying he was playing around. If the scene he was rehearsing had him put the gun to his head, he’d be dead.

DP. I listened to the audio of her saying it. It's a bit of a simplification of her statement-- she said her favorite part of her job is teaching people that when used safely, guns are not dangerous.

Even that statement is incorrect, IMO. But according to a pp, I'm a gun nut because I believe in gun safety. I can conceive of many scenarios in which guns could kill despite following safety protocols. They are weapons meant to kill and that's what they do.

His wife's fake Spanish heritage was revealed in December 2020. But, I think part of him looking like hell recently was for the character he was portraying in the film (longer hair and the beard).
