Yep, the ones screwed over, like summer birthdays, will have an argument.

In the 2026–2027 school year, children born after August 1, 2010, will generally be entering 10th grade (Sophomore year) or 11th grade (Junior year), depending on their specific birth month and your local district's cutoff date.

2010s born after 8/1 are most likely to be Sophmores next fall or Juniors. Which is why below is mathematically correct.
Grade guy doesn't understand math
Still 100% correct.

This is for next fall when SY starts.

11v11 = U18/U19 = ≤ 8/1/2007 ≈ Senior
11v11 = U17 = ≤ 8/1/2009 ≈ Senior

Using U14 as an example what this is saying is...
Grade guy doesn't understand math
1. They play 11v11
2. Players turn 14 after Aug 1
3. Players are younger than or equal to 8/1/2012
4. Players are most likely in 8th grade or Freshman

Mathematically incorrect and wrong. This hack job of the correct matrix makes it look like older players can play down when they cant.

Yeah, youngest always shafted.

Well, if we're going to have Aug-Sept play up to play on grade, I see nothing wrong with May-July joining their grade, even if it's playing down. It's only a few months!

Nope, playing down is not allowed.

Give it time, a season or 2. It'll happen, if you force players up by grade. It brings grade into the conversation. That's why even if you play up AugSept, you don't get to 99%. There's a ton of summer birthdays who will be misaligned (as well as being among the youngest). Nothing is as neat and clean as you think.

Bio-banding already exists. In the GA, kids in this scenario already get to play down when they are in 8th grade. This opening will only grow IF aug grade guy gets his way, because those summer bday parents won't stop pushing for it. AND they'll have a great argument.

Now youve moved on to lieing about GA doing biobanding?

Are you honest about anything?

Makes sense. If you are going to the effort of making only one month play GY, you would need to add a few months to make it worth all the work of tracking and verifying grades for carding purposes.

And once May-June are allowed to play down by grade, the slippery slope will only grow.

I'm not for that. I like 12-month window with flexibility to play up on a case-by-case basis. That's the best system possible. Glad to read that most are doing this. It's reasonable to be concerned about college recruiting and grade BUT it's over-the-top to think if you can't do that you're doomed. As the ECNL director said, for some, they may even expand their opportunities. And that confirms what I'm seeing now in my area as teams are getting set for next year. Some seeking (and getting to play up) and others seeking (and getting) to play on grade.
