My sister pretends she is retired

Anonymous
My sister retired from a job. She worked there for 35 years, same job. It's the only job she ever had. She retired and got another FT job right away. She has told everyone she retired but has not told anyone that she got another job. I watched her tell a group of people how retirement is good, but boring.

Why lie about this? I asked her when she is going to tell people and she said soon. She makes up lies when she is working and unable to attend family functions.

I just think it's weird. Why lie?

maybe she's embarrassed by the new job?

Imo this isn’t your business.

She has her reasons, OP. Why can't you just ask your sister?

I mean, it is weird, but it's also harmless. Maybe she thinks the new job in embarrassing, maybe she thinks it's embarrassing that she doesn't have enough money to fully retire, who can say?

If she worked at one job 35 years, she is retired. She probably doesn't have enough money and needs to still keep working.

My H retired and works and says he is retired. If people probe he says yea I have a retirement job to keep me out of trouble. But he is retired.

How much does he work per week?

Maybe it's FT but short-term, on contract or something. Or maybe she's not planning on staying there very long. Or a long list of other maybes.

I have to tell you this. Brace yourself...
Your sister is having an affair with her supervisor. She also has a drug problem which she is hiding.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any other question about your family and/or your life.

Why can't I comment on something. I saw her lie with my own eyes. It's weird.
