What are going rates for individual sessions?
What should be the focus to get best value for a well rounded player?

A good program/trainer will spend some time with you on the phone or by email, talking about your child’s strengths and the areas where they could benefit from some extra attention. Then they’ll design sessions to address those things — and also other things they see themselves during sessions. So the focus is going to be different for each player.

I have paid from $35 with new coaches to $80 for top coaches. You can talk to your kids coach to find what he needs to work on and mention that to the trainer. Average is in the middle.

Highly recommend. Almost all the training is either at WJ or Wootton. Summer months there will be serious pros, college kids, high level high school and middle school kids. They usually train for 3 hours in the mornings Monday-Friday and two hours Sat/Sun. They have training all year round. My daughter goes when she can do to her travel schedule but in the summer she goes almost everyday. It has made a huge difference with her speed, technical skills, and competitiveness. Generally they have group sessions with multiple trainers but you can also get one on one instruction ($$). What I like the most is that my daughter gets to go 1v1 against boys. She is a center back so it has dramatically helped her game. These workouts are NOT for the faint of heart. They work hard so if you have a little cry baby then this is not for them.

These guys are good. You will not find better. But a private session is not cheap.

Can someone share costs for Next Star? Do you sign up for a "plan" of x sessions a month?

Our son trains with a former USMNT player, and he charges around $100 / hour for most. We don't pay that much because of the relationship formed and long-term commitment.

I think it's per session.

In our experience, the relationship factors like this definitely affect the price. Every trainer we e worked with has a sliding scale, and unless you are signing up through a formal process, newbies can expect to pay more than long-term clients. Our kids have participated in some funny/awkward group trainings where some parents are there with their checkbooks writing $50 checks, some kids hand the trainer a $20 or a $5, and other kids pay nothing.
