Best doomsday car?

Anonymous
I need to replace my car soon. It is old and not reliable anymore. So, I’ve been thinking what kind of car to get. And I think with everything that is going on in the world, terrorism, rioting, global warming, cold war I need a car that I can drive in Bethesda but also can use to bug out when the time comes

Lol. Whatever you buy will run out of gas or electric power son enough OP. We are all screwed in a doomsday scenario!!

something you know how to work on. just having some fancy hummer or truck not gonna matter if it starts to break down and you have no mechanical skills. key to surviving in a bug out scenario is having survival skills moreso than fancy hummer or trucks

Every car is a doomsday vehicle. Because every car is responsible for ushering in doomsday by helping kill the planet.

I always kept my jeeps wrangler as a second car partially because of this - it could drive beside RR tracks or under the easements of high power lines without a problem. Streets would be jammed so off road/4 wheel drive is the only option

Nah, Jeep is too obvious. Someone will take it from you. You need a Prius modified for off road

Get Rokon motorcycles for the whole family. Perfect bug out vehicle.

A hybrid with with AWD/4WD and high clearance. Gas will be in short supply and gas supply lines will be disrupted, so you want something that will conserve gas.

I'd probably go with a Subaru Crosstrek hybrid or a Toyota Rav-4 hybrid. You can get 500 miles per tank of fuel for each of those vehicles.

Jeeps will run out of fuel. Dead Teslas will be littered by the side the of road with their upper-middle class families slaughtered by marauders.

I think about this all the time - but kinda a zombie apocalypse scenario. Wouldn't it make the most sense to have an electric car with one or two portable solar-paneled battery chargers? Obviously it's not ideal, but if you had to be on the road for weeks, Walking Dead style, then I would think it's the only way to go. You'd head south to maximize the sunshine.

Electric cars take forever to charge with just a normal electric plug in your home. Solar panels would be ridiculously inefficient. Plus, the further South you go the more likely you'll run into people with guns who would have no qualms with gunning down your family.

According to this website: "As a general rule, 10 solar panels rated at 300 watts each will be required to charge a Tesla electric vehicle if the daily mileage was around 30 miles, which is the average commute distance in the USA. The energy needed is about 6kWh, representing about 6.5% of A Tesla S 85kWh battery."

Life is cheap in the South, unless you're part of the privileged elite. And you're not part of that clique. In fact, you'll be targeted for being a Yankee. Gas will still be around, but it will be expensive and you'll need to buy as much as possible whenever you can. Portable gas cannisters will be very valuable. You'll want a racking system that allows you you drive with gas cannisters on the exterior of your vehicle.
