Throwing out our elected reps over prolonged school closures

Can't wait to vote out Bowser and all other incumbents over how much school my kids missed unnecessarily. What you're seeing in Virginia and New Jersey will be coming to the District as well.

You might be overlooking the vast number of voters with high-risk family members who appreciate that safety was prioritized in a situation with many unknowns.

Funny how the people who make posts like the OPs are often the ones with the least amount of household risk factors and the greatest amount of resources.

Yeah the alternatives to Bowser are way, way worse, if you want to keep schools open. The council member that is running for mayor and not an anti-semitic anti-vaxxer is Robert White, and he supported delaying school reopening.

I'd be happy if someone else ran, but right now it doesn't look like.

Bowser tried to reopen in November but was outmatched by the unions. At the end of the day she reopened more quickly and completely than neighboring jurisdictions. More importantly -- I seriously doubt there is any candidate that will be any better on this issue than Bowswer.

Anyone predicting a red wave in DC is certifiable.

I believe that we wouldn't have opened school in Fall 2021 if R. White were mayor.

He's all kissy kissy with the teacher's union, and we can all reflect back on their part in keeping schools mostly closed last year.

That's just not even remotely true.

If someone ran as an anti-teachers union critic of school closures, they would trounce Bowser. There is a lot of anger out there that some enterprising politician will learn to tap into.

the OP isn't talking about a red wave, though. Just people expressing anger over school closures.

No one is talking about a red wave in DC. That's ridiculous. But there is a ton of pent up anger among parents over school closures, and some Democrat will eventually figure out that tapping into that is how you win.

+1. I'm no fan of Bowser and the idiotic Democrats who run this city, but OP, if you think that any of the realistic candidates for Mayor will be better than Bowser on this issue, you are wrong. Please do not throw your vote and energy away on some fringe candidate in DC who truly has no chance of being elected. I'm a strong Republican, but have accepted the landscape in DC.

At least Bowser stood up to the nuts who wanted to continue unlimited online learning for any parent who demands it. That's about as good as we're going to get here.
