Neighboring counties such as Clarke or Jefferson (not Fairfax yet though) have made that Monday and Tuesday as asynchronous.
LCPS will soon follow lead. I am sharing the news that will be disseminated by end of this week or start of next week so parents can begin to procure childcare. You can thank me l8r. |
Asynchronous is bullshit.

So, two full weeks off in November, followed by two full weeks off in December. Who authorizes this nonsense? |
Did anyone's kids even have any work to do this past week on the asynchronous days?
My MS kid had none from all teachers except 1. That teacher asked them to read 3 pages of a chapter and answer 3 questions that related to the reading. The others just posted messages about enjoying the days off. My HS kids had some assignments that were due those days that had previously been assigned. Both received some work to do but it was basically busy work and no instructional videos were posted at all by any of their teachers. It seems like this was a common trend throughout all the grades from speaking with different parents. |
Omg!! How can I find care for my kindergartner the week of thanksgiving? People would already be traveling and there aren’t camps open. |

You're supposed to suck it up. This ALL runs on the back of sh*tting all over working moms, because they know we have no choice but to figure it out. Enjoy! |
I want a legal challenge to these days. They should not count towards days in school. No my kids had nothing assigned last week.
Exactly how many weeks of annual leave do they think parents get? Also, my boss had enough after last week because everyone needed off all of a sudden when they announced late last time. |
School board member in LCPS just posted on FB that he doesn’t see it happening. |
What’s that person going to say? We are incompetent and care more about gender ideology and anti-racism over actual academic education and values they’ll use as adults? Are you out of your mind?! How dare you?!?!? *Greta Thunberg’s voice* |
NP. Our Kindergartener was sent home with a bunch of worksheets plus several assignments via her Chromebook. Took approximately 3 hours to complete each day, with extensive cajoling from me (while juggling WFH/meetings myself). Not much, I know, but I was surprised at how hands on I had to be with the Chromebook. So thankful she wasn’t in school during the height of virtual learning last year. I’m trying to make contingency plans for Thanksgiving week now. I would hope that, if they decide to go asynchronous those 2 days, they go ahead and notify families this week. |
Agreed. |
Tru. But we get to chill and stay mentally sane. -LCPS teacher |
Sad that many of you hold this view instead of doing your f***ing job. -Same LCPS parent |
