Will the likely 2022 red wave take Maryland?
Which of these things do you think are likely to happen? Not necessarily what you hope will or won’t happen, but what do you predict? A. Maryland elects a centrist Republican Governor like Hogan B. Maryland elects a right wing Republican like Youngkin C. Hogan defeats Van Hollen D. Another R defeats Van Hollen E. Republicans gain a seat with redistricting F. Republicans flip a seat regardless of redistricting G. Frederick, Anne Arundel, and/or Howard County flips back to red H. Montgomery County replaces Elrich with a centrist like Blair I. Montgomery County replaces Elrich with a Republican J. State senate loses supermajority K. MoCo elects a Republican to something somewhere |
A.
We will never elect anyone who threatens Roe v Wade |
MD will never elect a Trumpy Republican, they got too many minorities over there |
None of the above. Maybe A & H. No way any R is elected to federal office. MD is not VA, there is plenty of discontent about schools too, but many voters here are Democrats down to the bone. |
A. I think Rutherford will beat any of the announced Democratic candidates. |
Rutherford announced like a year ago that he’s not running. |
+1 Hoping for H. A. could happen. This may be enough to get Hogan into the Senate race but I still don’t think he wins. |
Yup. Sadly. |
I live in AA and G. strikes me as fairly unlikely. We have seen a lot of “Zoomtown” population growth and a lot of it is diverse. Possibly also MC and UMC black people leaving Baltimore/priced out of DC. I’ve heard the same is true of HoCo. |
+1 Frederick absolutely flips back no matter what, that was crazy that they went for Biden (and I love Biden.) But I agree AA and HoCo are stickier. |
Md is 12 points less white than nj or va.
I don’t think people understand how racially diverse md is. It’s the California of the east coast. Md Will be the first state to go majority minority in the eastern time zone. Hogan is the best you can do if you are Republican |
No one will defeat Van Hollin. No one. |
H and maybe I. |
Elrich is definitely gone. Hoping for Blair (anyone but Reimer who is a lying a$$hole). Possibly another moderate Governor, depends on opponents- last time Anthony Brown's only campaigning was, "I am a democrat," and that is not enough |
Baker for governor. He's more centrist. I dearly hope MoCo elects a regular democrat as CE. Elrich is a disaster. He hates the police, and feeds off the energy of SSJC and JUFJ, who are an extreme minority in the county. This part of why violent crime has increased. It's not all of it. It may not even be the biggest factor. But it's a factor that government can control. View the police as partners rather than enemies in making policing safer for everyone. Very simple. |
