ACPS now closed for the entire thanksgiving week

To let people decompress or something. I am sure it is very easy for working families to decompress as they scramble to find care on a holiday week.

Do you think APS and Fairfax will follow?

Probably. I really don't think it's a "decompress" issue as much as it's a "can't find subs because we're paying shit wages" issue, though.

I hope Fairfax will close for the week. But it will be easy for us because my parents will be coming into town for a visit that week.

Right I agree. I really think they just need to tell teachers they can't take off though. I mean it is that way in any public facing job. You need coverage. I dont blame teachers for asking, I blame admit for granting. They need to be better/stronger managers.

Not surprised. LCPS is now closed all of next week (and today) and it will not surprise me if they close Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week as well. No subs and no bus drivers = no school.

This was my first thought thank goodness my mom is coming for that week! We're in FCPS hope they don't close down though we're already off that Wednesday.

But if they don’t take off, how can teachers scream at us that school isn’t daycare?!?

I’m in loudoun county and it was SO HARD to find care for the next 6 days (they’re off today and all next week). Our final plan is that Dh and I will take turns calling out sick from work. We couldn’t get off with only 2 weeks notice.
