Protein Sparing Modified Fast

Has anyone tried this, either on it’s own or as an alternating day strategy? If so, what did you eat and where did you find recipes?

Are you familiar with Maria Emmerich? She has recipes, ebooks, coaching, cookbook and a plan for PSMF:

Yes! So happy someone else is aware of this. I have never done it on its own because of how dull it is, but I used it very successfully on my rest days when cutting. My food options boiled down to fatfree greek yoghurt with berries, chicken breast, lean fish like tuna or tilapia, lean deli meat and lots of high fiber low calorie veggies like broccoli, asparagus, zucchini and eggplant. You can also do salads. I found soups with chicken breast and veggies pretty filling. My daily intake on PSMF days was about 1000 calories.

Bumping this old thread. Relative is using Profast Diet method/book to reverse pre-diabetes at doctor's rec. I've been making some of the PSMF recipes from the book and some newer recipes of Maria's.

I want to encourage relative but I'm also trying to hold/build muscle and lower fat % to stave off any health issues for myself. So far, I'm really enjoying Maria's protein sparing bagels, noodles (cut like spaghetti or used for lasagna), protein sparing sliders and protein sparing deep dish pizza. She uses a lot of egg whites, egg white powder and gelatin (I add that to the pizza too, makes it chewier). I seem to get a lot of satiety from the egg white recipes, which I did not expect. I avoid sweeteners so do not use allulose which she uses for browning and I skip all the dessert, donut, etc recipes.

Anyone else find them useful? I'm surprised at how much more full I am, and for how long, compared to if I just eat a burger in say a lettuce wrap. I think all the gelatin seems to be helping my hair and nails, too. I am doing a few PSMF days a week, rest low carb, and strength training, so far so good.

According to my mom, a lot of people used gelatin in the 70s and common diet foods were cottage cheese or hamburger patties, so, pretty similar.
