| can they play in competitions other than the league? like tournaments |
Yes. |
is it unrestricted? |
Don't know
|
| What kind of restrictions/for what type of competition? I don’t think there are many restrictions, at least for ECNL. BRYC composite players play ECNL and also compete in non-ECNL league play/tournaments. If a club cards them, I don’t think there are many/any restrictions. |
| Arlington Red CRUSHED Barca with mostly ECNL players in VYSA state cup yesterday. ECNL patches on most but not all of the players. They are good! I would be kinda bummed if I was rostered on the red team and got displaced so the club could smack down a mediocre local club. |
BS |
Correct - Since ECNL parent corporation is "US Club Soccer®" and the competitor corporation is "US Youth Soccer®" you can be simultaneously carded under both umbrellas. A club, (BRYC, Arlington, etc) can participate in both organizations simultaneously. A player at a club (BRYC, Arlington, etc) can be dual carded and the club can move the player between teams and between corporations as they see fit while adhering to that corporation's age rules. US Club Soccer® oversees these leagues: ECNL ECNL-R NPL etc. https://usclubsoccer.org/npl-member-leagues/ US Youth Soccer® oversees these leagues: GA EDP CCL NCSL VYSA ODP National Championship Series Presidents Cup etc. https://www.usyouthsoccer.org/national-championship-series/ Outlier Leagues may have different rules about cross carding- MLS Next, USL Academy appear to be independent of the two big corporations. |
Cheaters! the harm is done to players from red team and just for a medal that worths nothing. Also there is a difference between how Academy pools work vs what Arlington and other clubs with no academy format do. Academy teams share the cost of the tournaments so every player team A and team B pay the fee. This means that player from A or B have the right to ply in tourney. While those clubs that don’t have the academy format are misleading the cost to their players from team B when they have guest players from team A. |
They’re good, but Barca should’ve done better than that (9-0). |
What age group and gender was this? That would be really pathetic if they did that. |

MLS, ECNL, and EDP teams will all be competing in the Bethesda Premier Cup this year against each other. So, yes. https://www.premiercuptournament.com/boys-teams |
| Jefferson cup has always been a great event where the top teams from different platforms can compete. Seeding can be funky at times though |
Not sure why Arlington felt they needed to bring down ECNL players for this game since the Barca team was decimated between over half of last years 2003 team graduating, a couple players moving to the Barca academy in Arizona and another one now over in Europe…. But gotta chase all those gotsoccer points right??? 🙄 |
