Thin / skinny

Whenever I see a very thin mom, I am green with envy. Does this mean, I need to lose weight? I’m not that heavy myself but I’m still jealous for some reason. Does anyone know the healthy response?

Something I never aspire to be

Instead of being jealous, why not eat healthy and exercise?

It means that you need to think about what's going on inside your head. It has nothing to do with the other person. I doubt weight is your problem but low self-esteem, low self-confidence might be something you need to work on.

Get more fit if that's something you want to do but that won't fix your view of yourself.

I don’t like thin/skinny. Fit/healthy is much preferred IMHO.

Whenever I see someone very thin, I think "eating disorder".

True. I envy people with a little fat in all the right places. Slim but curvy is my ideal

Whenever I see someone fat with jiggly arms I think "lacks self control" or "depressed and needs food to cope".

I am a naturally thin person (and a mom) and the responses in this thread are such an excellent reminder that often other women don’t see me as a person but just an object, something to react to and to like or dislike, envy or resent, evaluate and judge.

OP, my recommendation of what to do when you see a thin mom is to say hi and ask how her weekend was. Her body has absolutely nothing to do with you and is none of your business.

You turned this into an emotional bowling ball. People are always comparing and judging. That’s human nature.

Np who hovers between 100 and 112. I don't compare but I noticed when I was at my thinnest and eating healthy and exercising that wow there are a lot of unfit fat people in the dmv. A crazy amount. Before judging I observe. I observed a family of 5 watch calories and avoid sauces. The wife husband and kids looked healthy and thin.

What you think is all about you. It has nothing to do with the other person. If you want to feel the envy, etc., that's fine. If you don't want to, change your thoughts and your actions.

They probably have eating disorders as do their kids, or they soon will. Model heathy behavior, counting calories is not healthy behavior for children.

Whenever I see people talking like either of the PPs I think 'disordered relationship with food and body'
