So your goalie…a specialize position…is playing up at a showcase…and you don’t think it’s a skill / player based decision but rather league based decision that will be made for all clubs? |
| Playing down at showcases, not up |
That’s actually worse 🤣 |
That makes the logic a lot shakier. |
Hey, I have no doubt if you have a Q4 kid, you will make sure he/she is starting somewhere once this switch happens. People/clubs will look for an angle in this. There's no doubt BUT the whole view of wholesale change as you suggest isn't rooted in reality. This isn't u-littles where the super tall kids -- who tend to be BUT aren't always the oldest -- dominate and score 10 goals a game. ECNL is so far past that. |
Wait, some on here believe your kid will be/should be starting on an NL team. What gives? |
| Has ECNL released new rules to directors for their planning and the public is just waiting in the US Soccer AGM for the age change plan? How would a 08 RL player get notified she’s playing down in 09 showcases without some guidance from ECNL to directors themselves |
Stop making stuff up! This absolutely is not true. You clearly have no clue what happens on top teams and in college recruitment. College coaches never show up to watch any team - they follow and watch specific players. Try to stay informed. |
Honestly it would not surprise me that they keep BY partially and go SY with 9v9 and below |
Where SY for 11v11 would start AFTER those younger ages switch. |
My daughter’s ECNL coach, said he did not think we would see a change to league play. Showcases might allow some flexibility. But doesn’t know exactly what that will be. |
| Why would ECNL allow SY teams to show up at showcases but not league play? Sending kids to invade someone else’s team during tournaments and showcases is ridiculous. ECNL should go all in for 25 or wait for 26, but not a combination of both |
Becuase it soothes their customers, the college coaches, and allows teams to try out new configurations with guest players for the following year. My kiddo is quite young still, but late Q4, and I'd hope we could see him a little bit with both groups next year. |
I know two D1 college soccer coaches. They most definitely show up to watch TEAMS at showcases. They do not have the resources to only scout specific players. Once they’ve identified players they want (usually after seeing them play in tournaments or showcases), they reach out to those players. They do not have the budgets to travel around the country to follow specific players and just watch their games - especially since there’s no guaranty those players will commit to their school. |
Some sanity returns to the thread! |
