| Curious if schools that are SAT optional really do admit students who don’t provide scores. Which schools? |
| I'm curious too. Does test optional REALLY mean test optional or are they just saying that - perhaps to increase applications? |
| If you’re going to bring down their average, they probably don’t want the scores. But of course it’s easier to get in if you present strong scores. |
But if you’re looking only T20, this probably isn’t going to work unless you really offer something. |

That’s good to know. I’m worried that this is the only response (so far) though. |

interesting. Top grades and ECs, I assume? |
I would love to know more real life experiences, as well. This was part of a conversation in passing, so I don’t know what schools were involved, but a neighbor told my DH that their child tried applying test optional last year, and the DC received at least one call from a school asking if they had taken a standardized test, and making a request to see the scores, if they had. It would be interesting to know if others had this experience. |
Bowdin has been test optional for at least 30 years. |
| Need to include minority status. Schools have long sought to admit minorities without test scores. Lots of evidence that URMs benefited most from the new test optional policies last year. |
| If in a relatively affluent or upper middle class demographic it is a red flag if you do not submit test scores. We have a college consultant and he said this was an issue last year with admissions |
| Top grades and ECs, got into W&M, but waitlisted st VT (com sci major). Rejected UVA. |
| It may be even harder than last year for those who don’t submit scores unless the school didn’t require them before last year. |
