Not D3. Its a D1 school you dolt!

A D1 team that draws no fans.

That's all men's soccer at any level in college.

I’m from a big 10 school, we considered them d3 level competition

Awful flex, Chachi.

"I'm from a big [sic] 10 school..." you know where all the women are fat, and a.6/10 anywhere else is our 10/10. But it is ok. All of us guys were fat too.

If going to a Big 10 school is something you feel is an awesome burn at your age, you just owned yourself. Loser.

Oh, ow. You deeply hurt me….hahaha

Then we have lost the plot for American college sports. I have zero problem with this for actual pro sports. But this is college. And considering several colleges don't even have mens soccer teams anymore (which is a topic for another thread), the opportunities are even less for US soccer players to play at the college level. Colleges are now hiring recruiting assistants from overseas as well (look at Missouri State who got theirs from Italy). American kids should have the opportunity to play at American colleges. I don't know any other country that would allow this on this level if the roles were reversed.

So it’s about love of the game?

BS. It’s about winning until the system starts to work against your kid.

Get rid of recruiting, NIL and the portal and then get back to us.

I have zero problem getting rid of NIL and the portal. taking your trolling somewhere else.

But not recruiting? Need that hook?

So much for a level playing field.

Level playing field for what? college admissions? I am confident my kid can get into a school on his academics. So I’m not sure what kind of trolling you’re after but it’s not working. My kid isn’t looking for a hook for admissions for soccer. He’s looking to play college soccer in the US D1.

And under your own argument, these international players are getting a hook into the schools. You think these players have 4.5 GPA and 1500+ on SATs? Did they even take the SATs? I can’t even understand what you’re arguing.

Of course they have a hook. All recruited players have a hook. Arguably the biggest hook in admissions. Just like your kid. You just don’t like that int’l players might have a bigger hook. Oh well. That’s the game, right?

No. Are you day drinking? I can’t even understand how your dots connect. It’s college. International players who are coming over here just to get paid can go MLS where they are paid. I don’t want to see a 23 year old freshman from Italy who’s just here for the money at the sacrifice of someone actually here to get an education. For a sport that doesn’t even pay the bills.

But those players come for the education, too. And the chance to play. Just like your kid.

This is true. There are US and UK based companies who whose purpose is to recruit kids who've washed out of academies and try to find them an American or Canadian university to play for whilst going to school. It's very similar to SportsRecruits and the other services that operate for American kids looking to make a college team.

I'd assume these companies, or similar ones, offer the same pay us to find you a place to play for an education to players in Spain, Portugal, and etc.

Companies are not placing international kids on soccer rosters of US colleges so that the can get a US degree for employment. Come on.

So who cares? Why should any of them get any money or admissions preference? Just have team tryouts and be done with it.

What are you going to do? Come steal my keyboard?

No they're not sending 23 year old European/Ghananian/South American freshmen players over here so they can work at US/UK companies later. This is not why D1 schools rosters are filling up with international players.

Why are these weird trolls all over DCUM (including this thread)?

My kid is a sophomore in HS and looking to play in college and this absolutely sucks. If you think UVA, Va Tech, UMD, etc won’t do it too, you’re high. And consider that men’s soccer doesn’t really make schools money (it’s not football).

Doesn't that just mean your kid needs to be a better player than the international kids? Compete on the merits and all that? And if he's not that talented, go to college for academics like the rest of the kids.

It's not bullying when the original party tries playing tough guy then wants to play victim because his feelings are hurt after someone calls him out. You can't have it both ways.

What are you even talking about? You are the DCUM police whose job is to put people in their place, show them, according to you?

DCUM has been a wealth of knowledge for me personally over the years on parenting advice, travel tips, local news, etc. Over the last year the number of a-holes and trolls on almost every single forum has exponentially exploded. It is really sad. Posters like you that hijack threads for your own kicks when actual, real parents are looking for info just ruin things.

Go somewhere else. Try reddit.
