Never met a redneck named Sydney. |
You’re great at these and i got such a laugh when you did my kids name. But as someone with ties to the hudson river valley, Wyatt is now seen as really cringe by the cold spring type. |
Ah, that turned then. It was all the rage about 10 years ago. I also know a kid from the area named Wyeth, one of many kids I've met there with art reference names -- Calder, Winslow and Homer, Sargent, Andy, Norman, Jasper. Wonder if that's still a thing. |

Hannah Avery (female) James Lachlan Pretty standard stuff. My oldest is 10 and his friend group is very diverse but the names are all still Liam, Noah, Brendan etc. |
Yeah I don’t particularly think of Sydney and Wyatt as redneck. Sydney definitely isn’t, Wyatt could be but could also easily be normal. |
oof Lawler seems like a hard name for kids to pronounce--even if he learns how to say it it's going to be butchered by many of his friends! Hope he learns to answer to "Wah-wuh" or whatever the other kids call him. |
My kid is 8 and one thing that kind of amazes me is that in her entire elementary school, there are only a few overlapping names. It's like the entire community collectively decided to diversify their kids names with very little duplication. And it's not like everyone has a super uncommon name. Most kids have "standard" names. But somehow there's only one Sophia and one Noah, for example. When there are duplicates, they are rarely in the same grade -- I can only think of one example of this in the whole school. |
