Yeah, but how many stem focused Asians do you really need? Do you really need 70% stem focused Asians to run a stem high school? 20% of the population is snatching 70% of the spots. What would the percentage be if they didn't prep? If they let their kids have childhoods? Aren't we doing them a favor by removing the treadmill from their prepping rat race? |
True if it were discrimination, then the litigants would make millions, but sadly the courts ruled it wasn't since the process is race blind and Asian enrollment is at a historic high. |
What is embarrassing is when they think you were a TJ kid - the energy changes to "oh". If you didn't go through the grind then you are not worthy. BTW. I chilled at Herndon and did tech things like the TJ kids, so our childhood stories from FCPS overlap. |
I am the idiot you referred to. The phrase clearly meant to be sarcastic (duh), because some poster here keep repeating about the new admission process is racist and discriminative while the Supreme Court already toss the case. What else should I suggest? Sue again! (This is also a sarcastic). |
As you probably know, scotus didn't "toss" the case, it denied certiorari. Two justices dissented to the denial of certiorari. As you also likely know, dissent on denial of cert is very rare. And in this case indicates that if the case was taken, it would have gone against FCPS. They most certainly will sue again. The 4th circuit decision was issued before SFFA. |
Are we going to ignore the racist intent? We're literacy tests and poll taxes not racist despite being facially neutral? |
TJ selection is race blind. The school is majority Asain. Asian enrollment is at a historic high. The group who benefited most from the selection changes were Asians. To say this change was racist seems dishonest. |
The intent was to make TJ more accessible to kids across the county. |
NONE of what you said negates the racist intent or the racist effect. |
The primary intent was racial in nature. This is the sort of bullshit attempts at gaslighting that is losing elections. You think the asians were pissed off about it for no reason? |
The intent was adding additional seats to give access to more kids from across the county. The effect was that more low-income Asian students were admitted. From 1 to 52 IIRC. |
Either you weren't here when they were making the change, you weren't paying attention when they were making the change or you are simply lying. The driving rationale for the change weas racial diversity The primary effect was a less qualified student body but the most readily observable effects was a reduction of asian students and an increase of students of all other races. |
| Buying the admission test would be the worst thing imo. My kid went to a similar school and the competition and rigour are extreme, even for those who are well prepared for this type of academic environment. Why would you want your child to be miserable, skip nights, and finish at the bottom of the class?! |
Because creating a high-stakes test is an expensive, time-consuming process. You can’t just formulate some questions like a high school teacher does. It has to be validated. |
So your position is that only Asian students are qualified to attend TJ? Sounds pretty racist to me. |
