Why do some SAHM wear workout gear all day?

Anonymous
I really don't get the critique of wearing comfortable clothes. We live in an urban area (I'm a SAHM) and we ofte walk decent distances to go for picnics or playgrounds - of course I'm going to wear yoga pants and sneakers. It's my lifestyle right now.

Amen.

Besides, I never realized how much it sucks wearing a suit all day until I became a SAHM!

Hard to believe anyone would try to tell us "but they LOVE wearing suits to the office every day..." Yeah, right.

To piss you off, obviously.

I see posts/articles about this, but never actually see it in person. I see a few moms who legitimately are heading to workout after drop off, but they are showered/dressed within a few hours at pickup.

Urban myth.

Exactly. Some people WISH they could be in comfortable clothes all day!

Because the 2 days a week I am sahm....i put little one on bus at 8:55, run from 9- 10, walk fog from 10-10:30, eat, do laundry, call docs/ dentists/someone one, make beds, pull out dinner, check work emails. Then, realize it is 1 or later and need to get to store, pharmacy, cleaners, post office...next thing HS kid home at 2:35 and now have to get to activities, homework. The day just flies and I don't mean to never get changed and dressed nice.

Because it's comfortable. Because my baby threw up me every day several times a day until she was 6 months. Because I'm on the floor with my now toddler all the time. On the floor at home, at the library for story time, at her gym class, at her music class, at somebody's home for play dates. Because I'm sitting in the grass having an impromptu picnic. Because she is a messy eater who throws things. Because Target and the Grocery store have no dress code. Because we go for stroller walks. Because I could careless what others think.

Yeah, I wonder this also. And, as someone who works out a decent amount, workout clothes are not always comfortable--tight sportsbras, compression tights, etc, and the ones I see people wearing are the expensive brands. Just sayin'

I'll add another reason... because yoga pants are CHEAP (at least the target ones)! I didn't fit in my pre-pregnancy wardrobe after I had my baby. Clothes are expensive and I've saved a lot of money wearing mostly black yoga pants and tees. Like others have said, they are also comfortable & practical, so I can't really understand why not?

comfort. looks better than sweats. cheap. retains shape after multiple wash.

Right. Why else? Also to provide topics for DCUM.

I used to run around in my tennis whites, especially when going to/from The Club, but stopped in deference to the DCuM recurrent "Why do they do that, tennis whites edition" threads.

If workout gear is okay day wear, I'm going back to my tennis dresses. Has to be a step up.
