is joel osteen a false preacher?

Gosh, a lot of angry and nasty posts here. Verily, if you watched Osteen or read any of his books, at least you'd be in a gentler mood, i.e., improved as a person. Is he right about every single thing? Only God knows. But I'd rather read his work and practice gratitude and kindness than read people's verbal diarrhea and feel anger.

As the Bible says, judge a tree by its fruit.

Private planes.
Expensive cars.

Never ever does he help anyone but himself.

OP how is this a ?
seriously this man has zero redeeming qualities he is a criminal.

I really would like op to explain what she enjoys or finds admirable about watching Osteen.

You said you find his teachings Biblical in your original post.

You haven’t explained what you find Bibical about his teachings.

You are asking why others overwhelmingly see a problem with him, because you do not.

OP here, exactly WHERE did I say I "enjoy" watching him or how I find him "admirable" Where, I'll wait....

The answer unequivocally is no. He is the utmost pos preying on the stupid.

As for child abuse in the Church, it is alive and well we all know this. There is no denying this.

You want to risk your kids for "morality" LOL

That is what I was asking. I don't know how this thread turned into anything else with that being said it's a shame churchs are now known and spoken about more for child abuse than teaching the word of god. But why does anyone have to risk their kids for mortalities these days any way? Most church services are online these days, also people can bring their kids to church and keep their children with them if they are that worried about child abuse happening. But using child abuse as a reason not to take your kids to church or even watching services online isn't a valid excuse to keep your children from the teachings if that is what you want for them.

He may be kind, but he’s not a Bibically based pastor.

He makes millions off of his followers. He takes their money and makes them feel good.

Mothers were the number one perpetrators of child maltreatment, followed by fathers, mother and father, and mother and nonparent(s).

https://www.childwelfare.gov/topics/can/people/

Perpetrators of child abuse or neglect are most often the child's own parents. According to NCANDS, in 2005, 79.4 percent of perpetrators were parents and 6.8 percent were other relatives.

Children living without either parent (foster children) are 10 times more likely to be sexually abused than children that live with both biological parents. Children who live with a single parent that has a live-in partner are at the highest risk: they are 20 times more likely to be victims of child sexual abuse than children living with both biological parents (Sedlack, et. al., 2010).

I was sexually abused at home by my stepfather and never in a church.

I am sorry that happened to you. I hope you have been able to heal from your abuse. I hope your stepfather was jailed and punished for what he did to you.

He graduated from Humble High School, a public high school in the city of Humble, Texas, in 1981,[4] and attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he studied radio and television communications but did not graduate; he did not receive a degree from a divinity school.[5][6]

The Osteen family attended Easter breakfast hosted by President Barack Obama at the White House in 2010.[16]

Osteen's first book, Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential, was released in October 2004, and reached the number 1 position on The New York Times Best Seller list.[27]

He released his second book, titled Become a Better You: 7 Keys to Improving Your Life Every Day, in October 2007. It also topped The New York Times Best Seller list[28] and had a first printing of three million copies.[29] Osteen has said that the book focuses more on relationships and not getting stuck where we are in life.[30]

Osteen lives with his family in a 17,000 square-foot mansion in River Oaks, with an estimated value of $10.5 million.[32] Osteen says that as senior pastor, he draws no salary from the church, which has an annual budget of $70 million,[33] and that he instead relies on income from book sales.[34]

Osteen's sermons and writings are sometimes criticized for promoting prosperity theology, or the prosperity gospel, a belief that the reward of material gain is the will of God for all pious Christians.[35][41][43][44][45][46]

On October 14, 2007, 60 Minutes ran a 12-minute segment on Osteen, titled "Joel Osteen Answers His Critics", during which Reformed theologian Michael Horton told CBS News correspondent Byron Pitts that Osteen's message is heresy. Horton stated that the problem with Osteen's message is that it makes religion about us instead of about God.[47]

Osteen is estimated to have a net worth of over $50 million, with his church taking in $43 million a year in collections.[48]

He preys on the vulnerable, he is a criminal Charleton nothing he does is good.

If you want to buy his crap more power to you. However, given he doesn't even pass out water in catastrophes i'd think you would support Mattress Mack instead. At least he cares unlike Osteen who only cares about $.

Joel is a motivational speaker. His sermons are like the "power of positive speaking" plus Jesus. I realize that what he is saying is not theologically sound, but I sometimes listen to him when I need a boost. I am otherwise a thoughtful, fairly liberal Methodist who opposes the prosperity Gospel, but Joel is my secret shame.
