All you ageists in this thread might be surprised by how much pickle ball is appealing to the younger crowd. My DC is playing in a club at their college and spots in a tournament were filled within minutes last week. My niece, a recent college graduate in a new city was deciding between a kickball league and a pickle ball league as a way to meet people. Guess which one she chose. Maybe it’s a fad and will eventually burn itself out, but it’s a mistake to view it as only an “old” people thing.

That was kind of what happened during Covid, right? My mom was allowed to work out at her senior center but my kid was doing virtual school. When the 50+ age group is in charge, it shouldn’t be a surprise. I’m one of those people posting on the real estate thread about our pricey SFH neighborhood in a great school zone getting snapped up by relocating boomers. They’re the same ones voting down our school levies and converting all the programming at our local community center to senior stuff. Bc fixed income. Except it’s fixed at a super high level.

Claude Moore has indoor courts. You can join for a year or it’s like $6/day you go.

Everyone I know who plays pickleball is under 50. The majority are late 20’s and early 30’s. They love it.

The transformation has begun in the Fairfax Lifetime gym. RIP Basketball.

Fairfax transformation is complete. They redid the floors to be sandpaperish like a tennis court. 75% of the people playing were women.
