Our garbage gym Lifetime Centreville is ripping out the indoor basketball courts and replacing it with all pickleball

Why?

I plan pickleball, I don't play basketball?

My kids play basketball, but I don't begrudge a gym taking some basketball space for pickleball, yoga, pilates, etc. I want a healthy community and I like to see the old people out there enjoying themselves. (I guess the old people didn't like seeing kids playing basketball).
Honestly, yu sound very self-centered.

well, yes. Have you done both?

NP- what?! Pickleball is the sport and rock climbing is more of an activity. Maybe outdoor rock climbing is a sport

I"m not a rock climber but rock climbing gyms have competitive teams and all those insane athletes on ninja warrior seem to be rock climbers. Is ping pong a sport? IDK. Pickleball is just easier ping pong.

NP Old people each likely pay a higher rate than kids. Kids are often on a family plan or they're free with their parents. I'm at a different gym though.

If I repeat Lifetime Centreville a lot in my comment, will this thread show up on google results? I don't know how the algorhythms work.
Lifetime Centreville hates families.
Lifetime Centreville hates the Centreville community.
Lifetime Centreville is a gym for senior citizens only.
Lifetime Centreville does not ask for or listen to customer feedback.

My mom claims there is a certain add on medicare plan where medicare will completely pay for senior's gym membership. So maybe Lifetime is trying to capitalize on that membership stream and get that free free govt money.
Our family membership is pretty expensive but maybe the bulk of that is the adult membership.
It just seems as pp pointed out that Activities for Old People and Activities for Young People can take place in the same room, at different times, and make everyone reasonably happy and maximize usage and revenue.

Just stop- you're embarrassing yourself.

M guess is entitled Boomers were complaining about having to share space with kids playing basketball.

Pickleball describes as easier ping pong seems pretty accurate to me. I suck at ping pong but played pickleball twice and I was awesome at it.

This is always a solid bet.

they will probably get rid of the child care next, turn it into a senior TV area or something.

so the only Lifetime gyms with even half their basketball area left are in Gainesville or Reston, and you have to pay over $100 more per MONTH?

Are they guaranteeing that they won't tear up those courts too?

Please don't give them any ideas! Its clear they view their main customers as 65+.

White people are really into pickleball right now. Every white person I know is playing.

I'm white and we are a disgruntled basketball family.

What gyms still have basketball courts?

Last year, we looked into some of the Fairfax county community centers but the ones with basketball gyms in our area had really limited times when people could actually show up and play basketball and I remember thinking it just wasn't practical for most families. The community centers want to be as inclusive and offer as many different activities as possible in the gym space and that leads to really inconvenient and fragmented availability.
