Ask the Cabbage Lady about food

Not an AMA, just ask a few questions if you have any. I am here for the weekend and then traveling again, but I will check when I can.
And if you don't care, and don't have questions, eh, I got cabbage to cook anyway.

What’s your favorite way to cook cabbage? I like cabbage pancakes and egg roll in a bowl. Do you have any other easy recipes?

My favorite way to cook fresh cabbage is a cabbage stew/soup. I cut up large chunks of cabbage, sauté onions, and carrots as the base, then add cabbage, some tomato paste, or a can of whole tomatoes, and then cook it for an hour. Sometimes I add beef to this for flavor, then braise beef first and add cabbage at the end. I usually make a large pot, which lasts a few days.

I don't do this often, I did it several times, but found cabbage too sweet. When I do it, I will roast cabbage chunks with salt, pepper, etc., for around 20 minutes.

I don't like cabbage with mayo, so I don't know. I prefer a simple cabbage salad with thinly sliced cabbage, salt, pepper, vinegar, and oil.

Whatever seasoning you like. I usually do salt and all seasoning.

Not op, We cut ours into wedges drizzle with olive oil and sea salt, cracked pepper and bacon bits. Maybe some pasta salad seasoning. Then bake at 350 for 20 minutes then turn it up to 450 for like 3 min to crisp

OP here, that does sound great, tbh. Nice crunch I think.

Should I buy a whole cabbage only if
a) I have four friends to share the cabbage with, like a trickle-down CSA, or
b) I like to throw away lots of cabbage

?
