Looking for a show to watch with 6th grader

We've always bonded over watching TV shows together, and need something new. DS is in 6th grade

In the past, our favorites have been Gravity Falls and Amphibia (great story arcs) and Big City Greens (funny). We also watch the Amazing Race and Battle Bots.

Looking for suggestions for shows that have a good story line with at least some humor. Mystery is good. DS isn't really into star wars or Marvel.

I would check out Resident Alien. Funny and kind of silly, age appropriate, sci fi with some mystery mixed in.

If he likes Resident Alien, you might also check out Firefly. Older but similar sensibility. It's a "space western" but with plenty of humor. Also has Alan Tudyk in it! There is also a movie, Serenity, with the same cast.

I love Firefly! One of my favorite shows. No way would I show it to my sixth grader. Especially one who wasn't into Marvel action stuff. The Reapers are terrifying.

Family viewing we've enjoyed includes The Mighty Ducks, original movies and then the Disney series. Looking into starting The Mysterious Benedict Society since the books have been a hit.

If you like Amphibia and Gravity Falls then the obvious next choice is Owl House. There are even some Easter egg shoutouts to the other shows!

My kid who’s in 6th now and watched a lot of the same shows is really into watching the original Macgyver series now. Added bonus that he gets to see how people functioned w/o cell phones, google, etc. and an action main character who uses his wits instead of guns.

Percy Jackson and the Olympains or Olympiads - whole family anticipates each new episode

My 6th grade DS really liked Wednesday, and us adults really enjoyed it too. He's also really into the new Percy Jackson series and a bunch of his friends watch it too. We also watch AGT and Gordon Ramsay shows but I know that might not be for everyone.

Young Sheldon is on Netflix. My 11 year old son and all his friends love it. The 6th season comes out next month. It is really funny and there is just enough innuendo, mild language, and teenage storyline that the kids feel like they are watching something they are not supposed to. The family dynamics introduce a lot of life issues that are actually very educational. My son has asked a LOT of questions! It’s been a great family bonding experience. Highly recommend!
