my DD is a huge baby about pain and she insists she has to have numbing cream to get her ears pierced. she really wants it done for her tween bday coming up but I don't know a reputable place in northern VA (fairfax or loudoun co). she said hard no to Claire's at the mall.
any recs welcome! thank you. |

This is where I took my DD and they do an amazing job. But the child must be at least 13 (OP said tween so this may matter) and they do not use numbing cream (the reasons why are in the FAQ on their website, and DD did not find it painful even without numbing). |
no appointments until end of Jan. already checked.

Craig pokes u
Pricey jewelry but great piercers |
| Have you checked with your pediatrician's office? Our does ear piercing. |
| I know a couple of tween girls got their ears pieced by their moms' plastic surgeons. |
| I've heard good things about Today's Cargo in Old Town Alexandria. |
Most people we know went here. We did not and had a bad experience. Go to Craig’s pokes u As for the pediatrician, we asked our doctor and he said he could but rarely does it. He recommended we go to a place that pierced regularly since they were more experienced. |

We went to pediatricians office.
I would not recommend it as they do not do it frequently enough. |

Call ANY piercing shop in the area and ask if they do kids. This is the most basic piercing of all, so literally any piercer can do this for you.
My kids went to Craig Pokes U and it was great, but it is very expensive - I believe they moved locations to a less crowded and much nicer place. |
This is why our pediatrician recommended Claire's. We had a good experience there. |
| My oldest DD did pediatrician, younger did Sweet and Sassy in Leesburg. Both had good experiences, younger moreso than older |
| We took my daughter to a very nice tattoo and piercing parlor, the experience was awful. They did an excellent job of sterilizing everything and the piercing was perfect, but they basically slowly put a needle through the center of her lobe with no numbing. She cried throughout and regrets doing it. Oh and it was around $200 including the cheapest earrings they had. |
I would NOT recommend Sweet and Sassy in Leesburg. We took my kids there to get a mani/pedi for their birthdays last year and witnessed a really horrific ear piercing. The child was crying and screaming "no, no, no, I don't want to" and the parents held her down and the workers pierced the first one. Her crying and screaming got much worse, and they held her town tighter and did the second ear. The parents were like "it's okay, she WANTED to do this, she ASKED to get her ears pierced" but I CANNOT believe the workers went ahead and still did it. It was horrible to witness. Even Claire's refuses to pierce a crying child's ears. When we took my niece to Claire's, she cried after the first ear and they told us to take a walk around the mall and come back for her second ear after she calmed down. |
