springfield district school board options

I read the websites for Tisler, Anderson, and Bixby and they didn't tell me much. In fact, the platforms all sound pretty similar even though they are all endorsed by separate parties (R, D, I). Any insight into these three?

Tisler is a former teacher, special ed advocate, and FCPS parent. She has a masters in education in special ed.

She is easily the most qualified candidate running for school board in the Springfield district.

I met her at a community event. She is very informed and has a ton of knowlege and experience in special ed. I really liked her focus on literacy. Her background in education is really appealing. I am not sure how many, if any, of the other candidates are former teachers or have special ed , IEP, 504 experience from both sides (parent and teacher) I think that unique background alone would make her a tremendous asset to the school board in that she can understand and represent both parents and teachers, something that seemed to be really lacking in the past 2 school boards. For me, Tisler's teaching background is the tipping point that pushes her to the top.

Tisler is extremely anti-trans rights.

She is also a “Moms for Liberty” supporter

Don’t be fooled - she has cleaned up her social media and such so she could run, but she’s just as looney as the rest of the MAGA crowd

YIKES! Thanks for sharing.

What does that mean she would want in terms of school policy? That parents need to be part of the conversation before teachers would use preferred pronouns? That she wouldn’t want a biological male being allowed to use a girl’s restroom?

Didn’t Tisler release student information that was given to her in error just like Oettinger?

I voted for Tisler already because I think we need some balance on the board.

I believe the courts said she could do what she wanted with that data she was given.

I gotta go now, but here are my receipts:

https://wset.com/virginia-judge-ruling-favors-fairfax-county-moms-fcps-school-board-spending-debra-tisler-callie-oettinger-goldwater-institute

Tisler submitted the FOIA request and shared the FOIA response with Oettinger. Oettinger owns Special Education Action’s website.

Oettinger published the documents on her website and before FCPS took legal action, she said she redacted all 1,316 pages and published documents related to:

a) waste
b) HIPPA concerns
c) misuse of bond proceeds,
d) "Various Division Superintendent, Staff Matters"
e) "Internal Investigation of Blackboard Remote-Learning Platform"
f) "Various School Board Members Matters"
“I did not publish information specific to students or personnel files, although this is what FCPS has led others to believe - and the focus of FCPS's case,” Oettinger said. “Very few of the 1,316 pages were about children/personnel files. I published all 1,316 pages, as well as the 10,000+ redactions that FCPS wanted to add to its initial FOIA response. I redacted all pages in advance of publishing them.”

Thanks. I can't vote for someone who is anti-trans. From Tisler's website, I was hoping she was more moderate.

It’s telling that Tisler’s biggest donor is one of Anderson’s neighbors, and there are as many Tisler signs as Anderson signs in Anderson’s neighborhood. Take from that what you will, but clearly not a group that rallies around a neighbor that they’ve seen at work.

They did, and spent several hundred thousand dollars of tax payer money to get there.

Anderson? She is in Mason, not Springfield.

This must be someone from Anderson’s campaign because that’s literally all she has to add to the conversation. And that she’s a dem.
