How much to tip at Top Golf?

Do you tip on just food and beverage or on the hourly cost of the bay as well? Last time I went, we were there for 2 hours and it was almost $600 and they made it seem like they wanted 20% on the $600, not just the $200 of food/drinks.

How did they make it seem you should tip on the $600? Was there a suggested tip amount on the receipt?

I got a receipt that had a total of $600 with a place to add tip and then to sum it up.

And yes the manager had my card and said people usually tip 20%, do you want me to run that?

Pushy manager. You only tip on the service items such as food/drink.

Is there any place where you don't have to tip? Do we tip our lawyers and doctors too?

Are your lawyers and doctor's bringing you food and drinks? If so, yes tip them.

I only tip on the food/drink total.

I thought the genesis of food & drink tipping was based on the fact that those folks don't get paid minimum wage and a substantial portion of their income depends on tips. Do the food servers at Top Golf not get paid minimum wage? what about at Mod Pizza (where I'm prompted to tip)?

I was at top golf for the first time with my grandkids. The hourly fee was 50.00 and I extended 15 minutes for a total of 52.50. We ordered our food which took a long time to deliver. I don’t believe it was the servers fault, I figured food was slow coming out. Bottom line, when the check came everything was totaled together. Food, membership fee and of course golf. I was sort of taken back because I figured golf and food would be broken out separately. Since no one came over to show us how to operate the computer or explain anything I thought to myself, why tip on the golf. So I tipped 20% on the food. Perhaps if someone took the time to explain how the games work I would have upped the gratuity to 25-30% on the food. I see no reason to tip on entire bill. If anyone disagrees please explain why

Above should of said 62.50

Guys guys. Lots of places have standard industrywide software payment and receipt systems.

I’ve been presented with the tip line receipt in places where it makes zero sense. I ignore.

I also get the tip screen at places where it makes zero sense. I ignore.

I have learned this by staff telling me to ignore that when I was confused.

A lot of places also calculate tip on top of the total with tax. I tip on the subtotal.

If you can’t afford to tip at least 20 percent then you should stay home. These servers get $2 hourly because they depend on the tips to pay their bills.
