Men prefer overweight women to skinny ones says Google

As a bisexual woman, my idea of the "ideal weight" for a woman went up significantly when I realized my sexual attraction for my same sex.

When I had thought I was straight, I couldn't be thin enough. If people told me I was too thin, I thought they were "just jealous". The idea that a man would be attracted to an overweight or fuller figured woman seemed ridiculous to me, a lie. I remember distinctly having a discussion with a gay male friend of mine. He was talking about a girl who worked in our office, who was overweight, and how he thought one of the law partners had a crush on her. I was rolling my eyes like- please. I truly thought- if there's anyone he would have a crush on, it's me. I keep my weight maintained, I'm cute- she's huge! he kept saying, "lots of guys like that", but I just thought he was being crazy.

Cut to me admitting my attraction for other women and embracing it. The only women I truly find myself attracted to are "fuller figured". The breasts, the hips, the stomach, the thighs- OMG. For me, I absolutely love it. Obviously there is a limit when it comes to obesity, but there is something so sensuously feminine about big curves.

It made me realize that my whole quest to be a skinny rail was so silly. Now I'm much freer with what I eat.

Once you realize what men are tapping into when they see the female figure- and it's all about the jiggle, the circular slope of the flesh, etc- you will never again feel the desire to see your own hipbones protruding, if you are a female.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I think the point is that if you're overweight, don't kill yourself to be skinny for the sake of being attractive to men.

Two things:

1.) There is no fine line for what is overweight and it is on a spectrum.

2.) The conclusion made in the article, I think, needs to be read in the pornography context. Based on information in the article he said porn featuring overweight is surprisingly common but somehow men tend to date skinny girls in the real world just to impress society. However, those who truly know straight pornography needs to understand that a vast majority of female actors are already considered skinny in society, thus there is a need to have special niche category to feature "overweight women" . I might be all wrong on this since I don't have (nor care to have) access to the data, but just search on any porn site and filter it by views count; you'll realize that the more popular videos are one that "feature" "skinnier women."

I'm a woman and I can dig what 7:19 said. I'm straight but I check out other women from time to time. I think women who have a little extra, but have great curves and muscle tone are so sexy. This body type sort of limits the type of clothes you can wear--some things just end up looking boxy--but these are the chicks who look the best in bikinis and leggings.

Personally, I keep myself in very athletic physical shape. But I absolutely lose it over a full-figured 135+ woman who carries herself with confidence. Swimsuit model types don't even come close. Trust me, I'm not that unusual.

135 would only be full-figured for a very short woman

Exactly. This just goes to show you how not based in reality many people's perceptions of weight are. An average size adult woman can easliy be 135 or more and not come close to being full-figured, overweight or anything else.

I side-eye any "research" that claims Google is the truth serum and a glimpse into oir real desires.

Thought it is a clever marketing strategy.

I took the liberty of Googling overweight women.

You know what comes up? Very few images of women who are medically overweight.

There are many images of women dressed to accentuate their breasts and bums.

If you are looking for male attention dress to highlight those things.

Which is really ancient history. Men like T & A.

Same goes for the obesity searches. This is a fetish, pure and simple. It's not a "men secretly love fat women but are too embarrassed by their friends to admit it" thing.

They don't actually want to be in a relationship with a 300 on woman...and we're not talking an extra few lbs here.

Since when is 300 lbs overweight? That's obese on every height. Shows you've completed missed the point.

+1. Post maternity leave I lost all of the weight plus 10 lbs without trying. Women asked me all of the time about dieting tips while I had random guys at work strongly hint that I'd gone too far.

My husband always told me that this was the case but I never believed him! He said most men are attracted to curvier girls and women with some meat on their bones, they are just embarrassed to admit it because of society and don't want to be called a "chubby chaser," and laughed at by other men. I just figured he was trying to make me feel better about the 10 lb gain post baby but now I actually believe him. I'm going to start wearing some clothes to flaunt these new found curves rather than figure out ways to hide them. I feel inspired!

Eh, I'm 5'5 and at 135 I'm definitely rocking a size 6-8. Perhaps that's not "full figured" to some but I definitely have love handles, a stomach, etc. And that's taller than average height, so I don't agree.

Guy here. The author is just trying to make bold claims to sell books. I'd be interested in seeing exactly what data brings him to this conclusion.

As an aside, skinny by itself is not really attractive. I'm more interested in fit and toned and couldn't care less about the number on the scale. Healthy is certainly more attractive.

5'5: s exactly average hieght for an Amercan woman you are just about in the middle for your weight range for your height. Your clothing size is average. Your love handles and stomach are lkely a function of poor diet, lack of exercise.

Always!. I think it's funny that ladies get all excited about claims that guys love overweight women and fat shaming. MEanwhile these ladies aren't lining up for the plus sized men.

Scale numbers are bunk. I know women at 135 and are smaller in height. They look great! Body composition is more important. Unless you have to make a weight for a competition it useless to pay attention to numbers. How you look is more important

Beauty norms for men have always been muscular and lean. Not so for women. It's really in the past hundred years that the extremely thin look has been in, and even that has really not been the case
