Why? He is basically showing compassion and love to LGBTQ kids it sounds like to me? I think Jesus would approve. I would be more upset if he was homophobic and shaming kids.

It's a troll.

I think your MS child should leave the school in that case. It doesn't sound like a good fit. It's not like your child's feelings are valid.

I'm wondering how many people on this thread are actually Catholic and actually have kids at Stone Ridge, because some of the comments ring pretty false. As a Catholic parent raised in post-Vatican II schools and parishes, the only part that doesn't sound like everything I've heard my entire life is the actual word "subvert". Other than that, I've attended plenty of parishes where our priest has literally said something during mass that is contradictory to the black-and-white parts of Catholicism. He'll say something to the tune of "the church says this, but God says this, and so I leave you with the message that man is imperfect, god is not, and to follow the teachings of Jesus and..." and so on. Are there so many Catholics in this area who have never experienced this that they can't imagine that someone associated with a Catholic school would say this? I'm really bothered by the literalists and conservatives who have infiltrated the Catholic Church and turned their backs on thousands of years of intellectual thinking and debate.

Why would they not be valid? I am not the PP, but if a child is feeling uncomfortable because a teacher in a CATHOLIC school mocks Catholicism, I think that is something that should be addressed by administration...especially if she is not the only student feeling that way.

Good for the school, that is.

Yeah, if I wanted my kids to be indoctrinated, I’d just save the 55K and send them to public school.

This. Noticed no one is denying it. They’re just attacking people and attacking the organization.

More than one thing can be true.

1. A teacher may have spoken some words.
2. Someone else may have taken those words out of context and/or misrepresented them.
3. Project Veritas is a heaping pile of poo.
4. People who immediately believe anything coming out of PV are dumb AF.
5. People who push misinformation on the interwebs are POSs.

Well, it's not just hearsay. They did have that man on video actually saying that he's subverting Catholic teachings and feels great about it. And he's the Dean of an all-girls Catholic school. Whether you like Project Veritas or not, there's no denying that he actually said those things. If you don't believe in Catholic values or teachings, then you should not be teaching there, much less be the Dean of that school. He should be fired already.

Veritas is infamous for hit jobs that take comments out of context. This is one of the many reasons they were sued into oblivion.

Not sure how you think this man's words could in any way be salvaged even if in context. He said he took pleasure in subverting the Catholic teachings. He is a leader in a Catholic school. He should be fired. I don't know what is taking them so long.

Simple: the PV "reporter" asked the teacher a question using these loaded terms and the teacher responded to the question repeating these words. It wouldn't have been the smartest decision on the part of the faculty member to ape these words, but they might not have been his to begin with.

He said "and that feels great." I don't think those words were put in his mouth.

But you wouldn't know if they were given how heavily edited PV's "evidence" is.

Anyone who believes anything that PV puts out is a rube who should let me inspect their wallet for a few minutes.

Why would they not be valid? I am not the PP, but if a child is feeling uncomfortable because a teacher in a CATHOLIC school mocks Catholicism, I think that is something that should be addressed by administration...especially if she is not the only student feeling that way.

It’s a Washington Independent School. It’s not associated with the Archdiocese of Washington. Although it’s a Sacred Heart affiliated school, there are no nuns or priest teaching at the school. Again, it’s a Washington Independent School with core values stemming from Catholicism but has faiths from all backgrounds attending the school.

As a conservative Catholic, I suggest you teach your daughter to get a grip.

You have "genderless bathrooms" in your home, pp.

Such a pointless rejoinder.

As an adult, I suggest you get a grip on yourself, troll. A student who goes to that school has a right to her feelings especially when the actions of the leader at said school affects her.

Why should the student have to leave the school when the dean is at fault? The dean made a huge mistake and did something stupid. Trying to subvert the very basis of the organization's principles is cause to be fired.

Can more SR parents weigh in on whether the students are actually upset by this? I am a Catholic with a girl currently in public MS and live close to Sr and was thinking of applying for HS. But I definitely don’t want to send her there if the bulk of her classmates would be upset over something like this. We have lesbian family members and friends.

Also, after seeing so many bishops who told Catholics that objected to the covid vaccine that they should follow their conscience even if it deviated from church doctrine with respect to the vaccine…..I would think that Catholics could follow their conscience when it comes to our treatment of our gay and lesbian sisters and brothers in Christ. To paraphrase Patrick Henry, if this be “subversion,” make the most of it.
