Wow people on here are so mean!!

This is a place where people can be completely open & honest since thankfully it is entirely anonymous.

No where else can most people be so honest.

To call someone a "pig" for being so honest is a bit much. ;(

I don't know. Look at every single landscaping company in the DMV. Every. Single one.

You get a nice lawn and beautiful bushes and tree.

And all for CHEAP!!

That's relative. We've had some pretty expensive landscaping. Almost choked on the prices at first.

OP here. Wow, thank you, as usual, for only a teeny handful of helpful responses.

For what it is worth I am a community case worker (working with undocumented people!) and will make less than what the nanny would make in an above board nanny share. So no fat paychecks and big vacations for us. Just trying to figure out how to (literally) pay for my infant to be cared for if I want to go back to work.

Why would you go back to work to earn just barely above the nannies pay? Do you not love your child at all? You will give up 160 hours a month with your child for $1000?

This is why there is daycare. Nanny as childcare is the most expensive option, not the cheapest.

Smart, mature women do not have babies they cannot afford. There needs to be a means, as well as intelligence, test before anyone is allowed to have children. You would have failed both.

She wants to get Medicare and Social Security in her old age (and workman's comp if she gets injured while working). Double standard? Nah.

FYI if you are trying to help an illegal out by giving them income and a job you are threatening their life in the US by trying to pay taxes. That is how the gov't catches these people. Also the minimal amount of money they earn has no need to be reduced further.

Totally untrue - the IRS legally cannot share this information with any other govt. agency including DHS except a specific under court order.

Are you new in town? Everyone knows how corrupted the IRS is. Ever hear of the now "retired" Lois Lerner?

Welcome to Washington, my friend.

I interviewed nannies. Maybe because of my low advertised range, half wanted cash with no reporting to the IRS. The breakdown was that two were citizens, one had a green card, and three were undocumented. I personally liked one of the undocumented person the best, but I couldn't get this nagging feeling out of me. While I was dragging my feet as to whether to go with illegals or not, ironically, she stopped communicating with me because she asked for a higher rate and we said no. The stereotype that illegals command a lower wage was not true in my limited anecdotal nanny search journey. She was getting $15 PT and wanted me to basically match it. I have not hired anyone yet but my final two are citizens who said yes to my rates advertised.

Why not give the job to a true, legal Anetican who's genuinely trying instead of some illegal who's sucked the life out of their own country's economy and is now trying to do the same to us? Just a thought.
