how do celebrities/models stay so thin and in shape?

Sure photoshop can help but if you meet many of these celebrities in person - or get close - you realize that they are tiny. I met Lauren Graham (Parenthood, Gilmore Girls) a couple of years ago and she's very slim. On TV I'd describe her as looking normal and fit. But in person, she was tall but tiny.

Same with Drew Barrymore who I saw at a restaurant about a year ago. Very slim and petite in real life. So sure, photoshop can help, but these women are slim.

A lot of the women seem to get thinner when they age. Its like they are trying to compensate for getting older by reducing their size to nothingness. The Oscars is like a Bobblehead doll convention.

So true! Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox were both much rounder (still thin but not "edgy") the first season of friends. I think they should revert back to their early 90s weight and they would probably look 10 years younger!! There are a lot of other stars that follow this trend too...lose weight within the first 1-2 years of becoming famous despite being thin to begin with.

Let's be honest if anyone on DCUM had what these two have, a personal trainer, nutritionist, someone cooking your food, and wardrobe/makeup/hair consultants following you around, there would be clear-cut results. They live in an artificial world where body tailoring is easier.

it takes certain quality to be in this industry.. same as all the other industries..
believe or not, some people are just born luckier in this... I am not saying they don't put any effort at all but
if they were so struggling to keep fit, how would they become and survive especially those who are known for their appearance and make money because of it.
same as if I were colour blind, unable to draw etc, why and how would I become a designer/illustrator?

And don't forget to say in interviews how you love cheeseburgers and hate working out. They're just like us! (not really)

This thread is sad. Do any of you wonder why your grandmother was not obese? Did she have a personal trainer? Did someone prepare her meals? Probably not. You eat a lot, you get fat. End of story..

Here are my rather random thoughts on this.

When people comment on my slimness which comes with great height, I tell them it's mainly genetics because that is what it is for me and my family who all have the same build. For many models, I do believe it comes mainly from genetics and probably also from being busy and nibbling through the days they are working. My family has always been one that eats when hungry and seems to naturally know when we are full and stop rather than gorge.

Actresses on the other hand are generally much shorter and tend to physically have bigger heads for their short stature. It seems like they probably have to work harder at maintaining a slim figure as they age.

There are of course plenty of people in both industries that do end up with eating disorders - like Kesha recently. Often it is due to comments by their managers and others. The pressure is insane and sad.

On the other hand, I believe if most people ate the recommended daily calories, with less junk/starch, more health outcomes and weight would improve dramatically in this country.

There is plenty of skinny shaming too - if I got a penny for all the comments on size and height, I would be close to a millionaire by now. I've never been with anyone who had complete strangers come up and say "gee you sure are short and fat" but every one of my friends would tell you they've heard the opposite when with me.

Why are so many non-celebrities fat? They eat a lot of processed food, drink soda, and don't exercise much. It is not that hard to be fit, but you do have to work at it, especially when you are over 30. If you are chubby, you need to change your lifestyle, starting with processed food. These celebrities do not sit around eating crap out of a box all day long and washing it down with snapple.

Ok, here is the question. How do all these models pose for bikini shots after having kids and have perfectly flat belly? They either have a mini-tummy tuck of sorts or they just get airbrushed. Even if you are skinny, the big belly will stretch your skin and naturally thin women with very flat stomachs before pregnancy are more prone to get stretch marks. Where does the skin go 3 months after pregnancy and how come they never have a single stretch mark? It's surgery/makeup/photo retouching. It's all fake.

I am tall and thin and don't have a stretch mark on my whole body after three kids. What I DO have, however, is a bunch of extra skin on my stomach - that little layer of poochy skin that wrinkles up like a sharp-pei dog when I bend at the waist. It's gross. How do I get rid of that???

I don't think people are asking how celebrities aren't obese. They are asking how they are underweight. Plus, your grandmother didn't have easy access to foods engineered to make you fat and she probably also didn't have a desk job. Not making excuses because I'm slender and I am very active, but I totally understand people's struggles with weight. That's different, however, from trying to attain some 15% BMI that looks good only on film but is disturbing in person.

I disagree. I am 5'8 and weigh 118 pounds even after 2 kids. I remember as a teenager being so stick thin that I would drink Ensure shakes and high calorie food because I so desperately wanted some curves! I have a few friends like this as well--no medical issues just a fast metabolism.

12:58, poster from a few posts up - the random thoughts one. I have the same as did my mom, who after 6 pregnancies did have some skin removed there. I wouldn't ever go that far though. Having hit 50, I'm just learning to live with it. It's part of that genetic thing as well!

My sister lives next to a well know celebrity in Beverly Hills. Not that we were watching but its a deadend road in a gated placed...so any cars are either going to my sister's or the celeb's house. The pa and chef get to the house at 7(this was the weekend), she(the celeb) goes for a 45 minute run, the trainer gets to the house at 9, the make up person came at 11, and in the evening she ran again for 30 minutes. She is in her mid 40's and very thin.
