alopecia areata - did your hair ever grow back?

Anonymous
I had an episode (just a small bald patch) about every 5 years from the time I was a toddler until I was about 30. Sometimes it would come back on it's own, sometimes with steroid injections or creams. Then I went on the pill...within 4 months I was wearing a wig. Went off the pill, got pregnant immediately. 23 years later, I have only had some regrowth while I was pregnant, then it would fall out again. Although I have a low thyroid, it is just another condition common with people who have other auto immune diseases. One does not cause the other. Hoping menapause now helps a little regrowth.

I got alopecia in large patches pretty much covering my head after getting the hepatitis B vaccine at 12 years old. It took nearly a year for it to fall out and grow back again, while my mom put onion juice on my scalp, put gelatin in my soup, (which I don’t advise because if your soup gets cold it turns into jello!) and put that mud that comes in powder and you add water on my head. Lol! After a while my hair grew back all the way, and for about two months it was totally fine. It was awesome but during the holidays, I blew myself out on all that Christmas candy and sugar and my hair fell out again! This time all the way. It’s been a year and my hair hasn’t grown at all... I’m hoping it will grow back again before the new school year, since I’m stuck homeschooling because I’m nervous about my wig falling off or something! Anyway, that said, I’m pretty sure the only reason my hair fell out was because of the vaccine. And I don’t really consider my hair loss as a disease, since diseases produce their own symptoms. And if I do have a disease, it’s the disease of “having a reaction when injected with various chemicals and diseased animal tissue.” Oh. And the other moral inof the story is “don’t eat too much sugar.” That was my bad.
