Law firm hiring partner here. No difference at all. Zilch. Same as 50 other good schools. |
It doesn’t really matter, and there is no need to major in political science. |
I don't know any law firms that give weight to the undergraduate institution. |
I don't have the energy or patience to read the whole thread. But this is the answer: It doesn't matter. Either is fine. Get the best grades possible. Demonstrate a sincere interest in public service (assuming it is there). Take a critical thinking/logic class -- I think learning some really basic logic, like syllogisms, helped me quite a bit with the LSAT (and I scored 99th percentile).

Oh look -- it's the "sweetie" poster. Spreading condescension and her own ignorance every time she posts. |
I’m the poster, however I have never used the word “sweetie” on this forum before this thread. I also think it’s ridiculous to argue over the merits of two great schools. Bless your heart. |
+1. and a real issue when selecting a campys today. Is the admin in control of the camous ir not? |
oh please. |
just a single lawyer here. but this is the answer. its all GPA and test score (plus urm and furst gen) for law school admissions |
What do you propose? You’ll be out of options soon. |
Emory kids are wicked smart. DC should go to tufts. It will be easier to get better grades there. GPA matters more than the fact that Emory has an $11 billion endowment and Tufts is only a 2.4 billion. And Atlanta suburbs > Somerville/Medford. So, there will be less distractions. They will be able to focus on getting good grades which is way more important than how many Rhodes scholars or Pulitzer Prize winners the school has. Good luck |
Are you saying that law school admissions doesn’t value a B+ in a class taught by a tenured Nobel laureate as highly as an A in a class taught by an adjunct who teaches classes at Tufts, BU, and UMass Lowell? |
+100000. Yes!! An endowment is not going to get your kid in to law school. This is very sound advice. Sitting in traffic while navigating the suburbs of Atlanta (kill me now) does not sound like a fun college experience. PP is spot on. |
Whichever they can get the highest gpa and lsat. That’s all that matters when applied to law school. |
No they don’t unless that person is writing a kick ass rec. |
