Lol - you are offended, I guess because your kid doesn’t really care about the sport but is being forced to “sacrifice” for some hope of a college bump? Anybody who really cares, or knows their kid really cares, wouldn’t be offended in the least by what was said. |
If you had saved all the money you spent on club soccer over the years, you would have decent college savings. |
Ah, this helps clarify - I understand ow hard it is for you as someone who wasn’t able to make the team in college. I am sure you would have made it if it weren’t for that pesky injury. Enjoy your life on the sidelines! |
Lol - don’t shoot the messenger because your kid doesn’t really give a s- about the sport you are apparently forcing them to play. |
This thread got really good when it turned into purists calling out rich people problems |
Answer the question. Are you saying that the current Union families are too good to have their kids coached by a VYS coach? Do you feel this way about BRYC as well? The criteria has been posted. All things including coaching coaching decisions need to be approved unanimously. I really hope the VYS and BRYC coaches are reading these forums. Both clubs are a part of this ‘Union’ now and their coaches should be given THEIR 2/3 of the HC coaching slots on both the boys and girls sides. If BRYC and VYS already starts conceding ground on major issues such as this then we are just in for another decade of The McLean Way. And if ECNL has taught us anything recently it’s that The McLean Way is no longer wanted and it does not work. |
This is why this alliance will likely crumble in a matter of months -- each organization more concerned with getting what they think is "THEIRs" rather than doing what is best for the kids. This "all decisions must be unanimous" agreement is completely unworkable. |
You say that like you believed at some point any of this was about the benefits and development of the kids |
Yes but they would have been "caught up in the riff raff of drugs, crime, etc" Apparently it's a choice between soccer and a life of crime. |
Straight outta Clemyjontri |
Are you saying that the two other clubs don’t have suitable coaches? Are you saying they can’t hire any? McLean had their chance to do what was best for the kids and they failed. Even ECNL saw this. Hopefully this new system fixes things for all. |
The truth is this, if VYS or BRAVE new what they were doing this merger wouldn't be necessary. ECNL boys is generally a league over reach and a disaster across the board so this is about the girls side primarily. McLean has been a founding member of ECNL and has had an excellent track record of success. ECNL over saturated Fairfax in reaction to Girls DA years ago and now league is pruning back. BRAVE/BRYC have not proven themselves at this level and that lack of on field success as well as college placement success does not warrant them a 2/3 vote in an area they have relatively little experience and success. While McLean results have not been what they've been in the past their college placement has not fallen off, because they are known, trusted and respected by colleges. So, no VYS is in over its head and really should put their ego aside and just shut up and listen to McLean. If McLean wants to learn how to win a U16 State Cup or get two kids on ODP then I'm sure they'll be all ears. |
Karen, your grandstanding is pointless, its a menage trois, live with it. Its 3 way power share drill it in your head so you don't waste all this time spacing out your responses into a coherent narrative again. |
Which club (s) will be feeding the players for the future teams? Or which club is performing better in their u12s, and ulittle recreational programs? McLean’s market has changed the club needs to have a plan or vision for years to come. |
No one is wanting to leave McLean. Current families know the track record of college recruitment. There's the devil you know... |
