How? There are 80 million MAGA at least 80 million Trump voter.

Will military go door to door to get the gun? The 2nd amendment sancutary county will no help the miltary.

What is casualty rate of door to door?

80 million maga outnumber the military people. That would be civil war and everybody loose. Very violent fantasy.

"common sense" gun laws is just a dog whistle for gaslighting people about gradual disarmament.

You used to be able to walk out of a hardware store with a fully automatic machine gun and dynamites without so much as a drivers licenses, just cash, no questions asked in the 1920s. It won't matter, soon guns are not complex machines, anyone with 10 minutes of training on machine tools or a 3d printer can make a machine gun. Doesn't matter, wont matter. Shall not be infringed.

No surprise waiting for this case and similar ones in other democratic run states to work their way up through the circuit courts. Then they can issue a clear decision on all of them.

Hopefully will include the line - what part of “shall not be infringed” don’t you people get.

Gun owners are not at all being infringed. They are still being allowed fully functional handguns with normal capacity magazines, along with fully functional ordinary hunting rifles with normal capacity magazines that don't look like military weapons.
Sure. Sure. Let's roll back the internet to dial-up speed and start riding around on horses while we're at it.

We had a ban for 20 years and it was fine. Relax.
I'm sure it was fine for you and your fellow progressives who would never own a gun. The rest of us were annoyed by it. The ting is the people enacting these bans have no clue what they're doing. The ban didn't make us alone but safer.

Oh my god you poor thing, you had to be annoyed? Holy hell, how did you function?! Just you and the rest of the guns you have in lieu of an inner life, but you had to get along with a few specific guns? And for what, a few hundred kids ended up getting to grow up and now we’re out here living our lives instead of dead. But you had to be annoyed.

I bet you vote exclusively for gun nut Republicans, because you love you some forced birth politics too. Never mind “annoyed,” you’re actually ruining women’s lives. Which I sense is a goal for you.

+1. Holy snowflake. Annoyance is perfectly survivable. Get some mature coping mechanisms in place gun nuts.
Shall not be infringed.

Cope.

"Well-regulated militia"

YOU cope.

Which militia are you in?

Article 1. Classification of Militia.
§ 44-1. Composition of militia.
The militia of the Commonwealth of Virginia shall consist of all able-bodied residents of the Commonwealth who are citizens of the United States and all other able-bodied persons resident in the Commonwealth who have declared their intention to become citizens of the United States, who are at least 16 years of age and, except as hereinafter provided, not more than 55 years of age. The militia shall be divided into three classes: the National Guard, which includes the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard; the Virginia Defense Force; and the unorganized militia.

Yes, very powerful, but doesn’t quite align with the percentages - “Black children and teens are more likely to be killed in firearm-related incidents than children of other races. Seventeen in 100,000 Black children died by gun in 2021, compared to approximately 3 in 100,000 White children or 1 in 100,000 Asian children, according to CDC data.”

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/10/02/us/gun-homicides-and-suicides-in-us-children-and-teens-are-at-a-record-high/index.html

Maybe America should be focusing on the real problem.

I’m not sure what you mean. It sounds like you’re saying a lot of American children are dying from gun violence. That sounds like a real problem to me.

One group has a substantially greater issue, the solution needs to start there. Catch and release for dangerous criminals, even young ones, is responsible for the disproportionate statistics.

Racist!

No matter how hard you try to make it, math is not racist. It is math and 17 > 3 and 17 > 1. Substantially greater in both cases.

My goal is 0 dead kids. Yours?

No guns is the obvious solution.

So now you’re anti-abortion. Awesome !!

Yes, when you factor in subsequent anti discrimination laws, essentially every adult in VA is both a member of the unorganized militia at the state and federal level.

No. There were 80M people that voted for Trump in 2020. As the primary season has shown, Haley has continued to hold a significant level of support between 12-18%.

Trump lost 80M to 88M in 2020. Both candidates have been losing support over the last 1-2 years and turnout in 2024 will likely be significantly lower with people who cannot stomach voting for either candidate choosing to sit out. But the current rates suggest that Trump has been losing more support than Biden has. So he was already 10% behind Biden and likely is further behind.

There are also extremely notable problems with current polling. First, polls of a few thousand voters are not going to show who will decide to sit out the elections coming up. Looking at primaries to see how many are voting against their party's leading candidate are a better measure of ones who will be more likely to sit out. Second, current polling methods only really measure those who are dedicated voters, the ones who vote all the time. And since most polls are 70-80% land line, that isn't particularly accurate. Those who have landlines tend to be older and more conservative. With abortion access that will be highlighted for this election, this makes the polling even more unrelated to actual voter turnout. The 2022 and 2023 elections showed that the polling was quite inaccurate. In every state where abortion was on the ballot, whether a constitutional amendment or a candidate that soundly supported abortion rights, the turnout in in the 18-35 demographic was significantly higher than traditional turnout. And that demographic voted over 70% in favor of preserving abortion rights. These are the young men and women who are most affected by abortion bans. And they almost universally use cell phones and very few of them have land lines.

Despite being a weak president, Biden is still stronger than Trump was and has more support than Trump has. And the abortion issue will only magnify that as it will bring out voters who do not vote every election, to vote for the Biden ticket. Biden will win by a bigger margin than he did in 2020, although both candiates will likely receive significantly less votes than they did in 2020.

Agree Biden will receive more popular votes, for some of the reasons you put forth. But as was the case in 2016, when Trump also lost the popular vote he will garner enough electoral college votes to become president once again. Very glad that the founding fathers put in the effort to create a constitutional republic and not a pure democracy.

People don’t want their guns, or gas stoves, or other gas appliances taken away from them. Particularly the 75% of America that votes republican.

Why do so many law enforcement professionals like trump? Should not they favor strick gun control measures to enhance their own safety?

Existing laws bar a felon from possessing a gun He already broke laws to attain "felon status". Perhaps not letting felons out of prison is the real answer. What new common sense law would have helped in this situation?

Because many law enforcement professionals see their job as arresting (or worse) minorities, which aligns nicely with Trump's philosophy.
