She was still pissed and vying for some lesbo action.

This show tried to do EVERYTHING trendy right now: victim of everything Paula, bisexual Olivia, aspergers brother, CFO ball buster Mom, doofus Dad, normal leisure staff hooking up w guests, rich widower w mental health issues/alcoholic, single mom spa worker, gay hotel manager recovering drug addict, shallow dumb emotional abusive trust fund Husband (nothing wrong w sticking up for yourself and the room you paid for! My husband is a doormat), struggling writer hot new wife who married a rich idiot (and if she stays she should do WTf she wants).

True. True.

Yes I don't understand at all why people think that it's white privilege to expect to receive what you pay for. If a rich white person buys a Tesla and they receive a Toyota, they're just supposed to say "Thank you" or else they're not kind to the "service class?" As a member of the "service class" I get paid to help people, so if that's classist, I'm out of a job, so please don't discourage white people from hiring people to help them. Please don't discourage anyone of any race, class, color, national origin, etc. from hiring people to help them.

The new wife really didn’t want to even ask what happened when they didn’t get the HoneyMoon Suite that was paid for. That escalated things and her telling her new spouse not to bother doing anything about it. Just take the $8k a week room not the $12k a week room you paid for….

A dinner doesn’t make it up. Just fix the bill and apologize and apologize.

Thing is Armand did apologize. And there was nothing indicating that the cost was different. Each room had a different amenity, one had an ocean view the other had a private pool. Sounded pretty equal to me just a different amenity.

It was pretty clear that the suite he booked was more. I think Armand says that.

It was actually the room mommy paid for. Can’t believe anyone is defending that *sshole.

He was the most normal person on the show except for the 16 year old.

Belinda trying to get money out of a guest for a project that in the real work has zero chance of every making money -- she is trying to steal money; the newlywed is nuts because of her insecurity and is not stable; the waiter dude who gets talked into stealing the stuff; the resort manager who is just a bad person; the friend who would steal from people that took her on a trip. The rich people seemed normal and sane.

Yes to all of this. Also, Olivia was smart enough to probably realize that by outing Paula, it would ruin Paula’s life like Paula did to Kai. They got the jewels back and her parents were ok so she probably decided to count her blessings and move on….if she really was bad or not aware of her ‘privilege’ she would have chosen otherwise. I was also rooting for Shane bc although I did not like him as a person, he was just being himself, no way did his wife not know why she was marrying him and that her looks were a part of the deal. Her tote screams that she is trying to come off as wealthy when she’s not. And fictional bad guys usually try to cover killings even if not their fault, as it was for Shane…looks like he immediately ran to report it and maybe tried to help Armand.

Season 2 coming- this time they're in Sicily. Different cast, obviously.

Maybe it was expectations – I expected a comedy and instead got extremely heavy-handed and depressing social commentary.

But there was no one to root for. Even Quinn was kind of a naive fool who is more likely to get exploited by the canoers, who he didn't form a real bond with, than find some new life. Rachel sucked in the end. Shane and his mom and Tanya were always bad. Belinda and Kai had a depressing end.

At least in Succession you kind of root for Siobhan just to win because she's good at what she does. These characters were all buffoons or hateful or both.

My thoughts exactly.

The scene where Rachel is being bullied by the two teen mean girls, she gets up and goes for a swim as they watch. What was that? Was she trying to make them jealous with their body?

Yes, I wouldn’t describe her experience as bullying, however, throughout season one, Rachel’s journey is realizing that she isn’t particularly intelligent or successful. She is out off by being an arm piece to her husband- and thought there was more to both herself, and to Shane’s and other peoples attraction to her. But throughout the series, she is rebuffed time and again. People aren’t impressed with her intelligence, her no name education or her fledgling career in freelance journalism- at least not this crowd. The only impressive part about her is her looks, which she traded in for access to Shane’s cushy life and world.

Stanley Kubrick’s entire catalog is full of flawed characters and unlikeable people and he has some of the best movies of all time. It’s bizarre that people need someone to route for to enjoy a movie or a show. Art isn’t football. It isn’t always supposed to give you people to route for.

Personally, I route for proper spelling.

Lol hard relate except I'm not as pretty as Alexandra Daddario. But I too was saddened to discover I'm not particularly cool or smart or interesting as an adult. It's sad!

+2 same here! Except I recently have found a passion in a hobby that people view as “cool/badass” and all the sudden everyone thinks I’m so interesting. It’s a great conversation piece. You just need to find your own unique space where you belong!

Jesus, this is easily one of the worst shows I've ever watched in my life.

Nothing happens. All of the characters are insufferable. I don't know if I can stomach s2.

Everything about s1 sucked. 3/10 stars.
