The cancer comment was shortly after the official statement released about Kate’s surgery. Within a day or two.
Second- the only reason that KP released the photo was the ridiculous speculation aboyt comas and affairs and DV being floated. Kate wasn’t beaten, in a coma or threatening William with a divorce. She most likely felt pukey and didn’t want the pic released as is. This isn’t rocket science.
They had weeks to retract that “not cancer” statement and didn’t. Even Charles and Camilla publicly said they should be more forthcoming.
So? They can release new info if/when they are ready. They don’t owe anyone detailed medical information. They also may have been waiting on further info for diagnosis/treatment.
If you allow disinformation to stand, you don’t get to whine when people point out that your statement doesn’t match your behaviors and start speculating about what is really going on. The PR disaster and social media firestorm is their own doing.
PR disaster? Don't be ridiculous. A bunch of whiny people that don't have anything going on in their lives is not a disaster. Some version of what they just announced was obviously the most likely explanation of what was going on, and they're not obligated to tell you anything.
Kate was forced to make a video she should never, ever been forced to make. That is the definition of a PR disaster.
Why do you think this? I think they released now, so the kids didn’t have to go to school for 2 weeks and their classmates wouldn’t pester them with questions. Makes perfect sense. She announced to the world when they had processed the info, told the kids and during a time it would have the least amount of impact on their children. It is what parents do. It wasn’t in response to the PR/photo issues.
If they had handled this well from the beginning, she wouldn’t have had to make a video at all. Nobody undergoing chemo wants to make a video that is released to the public, particularly not someone like poor Kate who knows it will be picked apart by ghouls. KP should have released a short and neutral statement originally, should not have lied via the fake photo that now has them treated like North Korea, and should have issued a further statement later clarifying the fact of cancer once it was confirmed.
This was an unmitigated PR disaster. Kate should never, ever have been put into this position. It’s absolutely terrible that the video was made.
Kate is of course handling it gracefully because she is a class act. But that doesn’t mean that the way KP handled this wasn’t an absolute disaster.
