Why do staunch republicans hate electric vehicles?

So until the situation reaches crisis levels, and even then there's no guarantee of a policy shift, don't expect much.

Here's the deal folks. Big DNC wants the U.S. to remain hooked on EVs, solar and batteries. They'll put us right in Beijing's crosshairs by making sure "mining' is a bad thing in the U.S., whether for coal or for rare earths. So, they'll continue to push for glitzy "change" as long as it doesn't affect their back yards and as long as they don't have to pay for it... kinda like Martha's Vineyard with illegal aliens, Congo Africa with forced child labor by the Chinese, and Nike and Apple with forced Uyghur labor. Democrats are very shallow in the grand scheme of things. But you already knew that.

Here we go again with the Uyghur concentration camp conspiracies. You right wingers need to give it a rest.

What a weird, dumb take. You can get vast quantities of lithium from seawater in a cost-effective way. Lots of rare-earth minerals exist in Canada and the US. But even that's not all that relevant because advances are continually being made on battery technologies and other things that are far less dependent on rare earth minerals. Can't say there's been much of any significant or meaningful technological advance where it comes to fossil fuels in the last 75 years though.

I’m a Republican who would vote for Nikki Haley and I drive an EV.

I don’t get invited to Trumper parties so I don’t know for sure, but I think they just enjoy heckling people. It’s fun to them.

Yet the DOE recently approved a loan to help with lithium mining in the US. There are similar efforts for rare earth minerals that don't depend on China. Are these part of the DNC "plot" as well? Your logic is flawed.

+1 HUGE discovery of lithium last year in California https://www.cnbc.com/2022/05/04/the-salton-sea-could-produce-the-worlds-greenest-lithium.html

And yet for all your scaremongering, EVs, batteries, and solar have FAR lower carbon footprints than oil and gas even after accounting for all the lifecycle costs.

What an idiotic take. "Sure, your dealer wants you hooked on heroin but your doctor wants you hooked on ibuprofen AND ISN'T THAT JUST AS BAD?!"

Because their funding comes from Beijing.

All those thousands of donations to ActBlue from one person... that when they go out an interview that person, they state they never made those donations? Yeah, that's the DNC/China money laundering operation in action.

When you've lost the debate on EV's, change the subject to something totally random and different?

Sorry, start a new thread on that if you want to debate it. And when you do get ready for all of the posts about how the Trumps made millions off of China, how Donald had secret undisclosed Chinese bank accounts while he was President, how he paid more to the CCP in taxes than he did to the US Treasury, how he got patent and trademarks fast tracked for Ivanka and so on. I recall those threads never went all that well for Don the Con (who by the way did nothing about Uyghurs). So maybe the "Chyna Joe" angle isn't such a great one, might want to think hard before you start that new thread.

MAGAs still fall for the line about how Trump made China "pay billions" in tariffs, so...
