In theory, yes. But your post seems a little victim blaming because you are assuming the girl “engaged in confrontation” with him. That has not been established. He is a very bad guy. His rap sheet is extensive. She could’ve done everything right and still had this outcome. It’s very very sad that people like Johnny Ricks exist.

I’m not blaming the victim; 100% of the blame lies with the perpetrator, but the article says employees attempted to escort him outside the restaurant. Employers and parents should make it clear that it’s not a fast food employee’s responsibility to serve as a bouncer. This story can serve as a reminder to have that conversation with your teenager.

Might I remind YOU that there were likely other patrons there. The employees tried to deescalate so patrons wouldn’t get hurt.

I’m not sure why this is your hill to die on , but it’s not a 15 year old minimum wage employee’s job to provide security. If you want to teach your kids to prioritize others’ safety, be my guest. That’s is not what I will be teaching my kids. Other patrons should have walked out the second it was clear this customer was dangerous.
