If it is that great I am just wondering why there is no mass migration to that country, including you should line up too… |
Maybe because they're not going to accept 10 zillion poverty cases and they do what's best for themselves. We have so many problems and you insist on taking on more. Are you self-destructive? |
Our students function just fine, thanks. Next. |
Except all the innovation that comes from the United States. |
Because of the entire concept of moral hazard. Everyone in the world knows it is very difficult to get into the country and there are zero rewards for entering illegally. Therefore, people know not to do it in the first place because their life will be difficult. Truly amazing Dems cannot understand this concept. If you reward illegal immigration, guess what? You get more! |
Yes, if China really wanted you to move there, they'd let you in. But they don't. Why don't these smart, educated Chinese want you to live there amongst them? |
Building straw men for your argument isn’t a great look. I haven’t said or advocated for any of the crazy stuff you are trying to shift this conversation toward. This thread isn’t about drag queens and immigrants. I know that is really difficult for you to not dwell on… The only thing I’m telling you, is that Chinese education is incomplete, because they don’t allow their students to ask questions. Cool basketball tricks, though. |
Don't be fooled. Mostly Chinese fake news. They have more problems that we have. |
Ah. You should educate yourself on how things work, then. |
When you're doing it to turn them into cogs for the state wheel and you almost certainly "cull the herd" for abnormalities, then I think results might not be so rosy. China already has the "lying flat" effect. |
The video seems to leave out parents beating children and calling them "stupid" and "trash" for getting bad grades. It also seems to have forgotten to include the kids who are depressed but the parents are totally in denial. How about the complete inability to structure an original thought or argument?
What about that time I interviewed a Chinese grad student for a position in my DC organization and her mother - yes, her mother - insisted on joining the interview to make the case for her daughter. I'd like to see that in the video. Yeah, great parenting. Real top shit we want to emulate. |
Is China's great school system the reason so many middle class people in large cities are dropping everything to zouxian (walk into) American via Central America - many of them citing the crap schools in China? |
Yes. Also culture. My childrens having 4 hour chinese school today, plus AOPS classes earlier in week. Because when we go home for school in summer, they be behind. |
Ah yes, eugenics. Niiiice. |
I live in Hong Kong and have spent time in the mainland.
There is truth to both perspectives. The schools here don’t mess around. The parents, students, and teachers all take education seriously. Education means the core skills, not endless fluff about “wellness” and inclusion. Excellence is celebrated across the whole community. https://scmp_epaper.pressreader.com/article/281608129888743 On the other hand… the schools tend to be pressure cookers with little time or interest in individual expression or creativity. They are quick to sort kids into high achievers or…other. Their approach is very formulaic and has a lot of rote learning. For these reasons Western international schools are very popular/prestigious where they are available. |
