Priorities. And for Americans education isn't one of them. Though to be honest it's not an issue of education funding, but issues of culture. |
It's culture. There are countries that spend less on education than we do, with better results. |
|
I see you. Be more specific about which exact culture you are referring to. |
America needs ditch diggers too |
Sweden Japan South Korea China Singapore Norway |
Their educational methods are actually awful. Not in line with modern understanding or healthy child development.
Children are not robots to be programmed. Memorizing is not learning. Their educational scholars actually study our methods, because we allow kids to be creative /individuals. |
The males in charge always come up with money to fund weapons, and macho posturing. There are many studies which demonstrate that more money is spent on social causes (like education) when there are more female legislators. Vote for women, if you care about people more than power. |
Of course there are outliers (who shoot puppies). |
DP. Nope. You need both. On some level it's about work and memorization. That doesn't mean it's rote but it's not just all creativity and fun stuff. It's not just taking the kids on a field trip to a museum or orchestra hall. That's a great thing to spur interest but we need a bit of straight up just do the damn homework and learn. I say this as a private school mom who is progressive but believes in the value of homework because the kids have to actually learn and retain info. |
Compare our current students against Chinese or any Asian country. Compare ours with Europe. American kids are the bottom of the barrel. |
And yet 75% of stuff in your house and in your body is made in that awful country. In fact, the device you used to post this drivel probably came from there too. |
You can’t be creative without technical competence. Drill the basics first, then you can innovate. |
Maybe more weed and abortion will fix us. |
